My Summer Getaway

We are a family that loves to travel.  We don't stay still well so when we have 48 hours off or better yet 72, we get away! We haven't had any lengthy vacations in a while but we have been taking advantage of our summer weekends with the kids out of school. I work at the Q on traditional weekends so its great when the girls are out of school and I can take them out of town mid week.  And so thats exactly what we did! Packed up the girls and even Gourdie and hit the beach.

The house is very remote and has a bay out back and beach in the front. The views were stunning. The girls spent hours on the big old tree swing in the back and we used the Kayak to explore the bay.

We found an old game of Twister in the cupboard and the girls must have played three dozen times.

Hubby and I sat there on the back lawn watching the water and watching our children and feeling so incredibly blessed and lucky.

This place encourages you to just live in the moment and notice how remarkable your life really is.

We happened to be there on fourth of July and we saw fireworks and bonfires for miles! I felt so blessed to have my family with me in my happy place. It was the best fourth of July I could remember in years.

I shopped at one of my favorite boutiques in town and went on long runs and walks in the mornings while my sleepy family dozed. The house is so remote I came upon a shipwrecked abandoned boat!

I also found this home jutting out into the water that would be my dream house!!!

Our wish is to one day have a little place on the water to call our own but until then I am so lucky to have friends who continue to inspire me to dream.
