Toys for All -- Tips & Ideas from Kerstin & You

It takes a village.

Back in the day they had a village of aunts and uncles and grandparents and siblings all living together helping to raise the children.  These days it seems everyone is so far away and we don’t get as much hands on support from our family members like our parents and grandparents did.  This is specifically true for my family since we live 2000 away from that support system. But my husband and I have found our own village right in our new backyard.  Our tree lined borough street is filled with twin homes filled with families.  I instantly had ten new sisters and twenty new kids in my life and we all come together daily to help raise strong, happy, healthy children.  It’s the new village.

From infants to teenagers I see daily what kids want and if I was going to put in a good word at Santa’s Workshop, I would let him know all these kids want for Christmas are toys that engage and challenge their growing minds…

Yeah we say they want Ipads, and phones and electronics but I think that is actually changing a bit.  They want to get outside and play tag and chase and build forts, and they are looking for toys they can use inside that do the same.  My kid’s favorite toys this year are ones that marry the love of electronics and gadgets with good old fashion kid fun. Grace  is addicted to Magformers, and Georgia loves her Twister tracks, and the entire family cants stop playing “chase” on the Flash pad.  So Santa, you know that we don’t all live in a village where are kids can play outside year round, so can you bring us toys that let our little ones problem solve, and interact and use their bodies on the cold winter days?

Share your thoughts with me on Facebook as well.

Merry Christmas from my village to yours!
