Thankful for Beth

by on ‎11-25-2015 10:48 AM

My son-in-law affectionately called my wife, Beth, “The Matriarch of our family.”  She was the glue that held us together.  Her laughter, warmth and smile lit up not only the room but the whole house.  She made our house a home.

While this is our first Thanksgiving without her, and undoubtedly the toughest,  I find myself thanking the good Lord above for letting me have her in my life for thirty seven years!  Wow……what a blessing!  She loved like nobody else and had this amazing ability to make everyone feel welcome.  She never judged she only loved.  People tell me that no one else made them feel so comfortable so immediately like my sweet Beth.

I am the lucky guy (I should say blessed guy) who got to be with this amazing woman for thirty seven years.  We were married almost thirty one and yes we dated for six.  I am very slow to catch on.

I can see her cooking up a storm, making our house smell so inviting while watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade on our little tv in the kitchen.  Boy I miss her so much.  I’m writing this through tears but my heart really is thankful and full.  For I realize that a lot of people never knew the kind of love that I have known from this amazing woman.  While there will be an empty seat at the table that nobody else could ever fill there will be hearts sitting at that table that are overflowing with her love.  I am so thankful for our two beautiful daughters.  I can look at them and see Beth’s smile and her good heart.  I look at my two grandsons and see her kindness and innocence.  I look in the mirror and think, “you are one lucky guy to have been married to a special, one of a kind woman like Beth.”

So please…..as you look around the table this Thanksgiving be thankful not so much for the things in your life but for the people.  And tell them how thankful you are for them because life is short and you never know who will be sitting with you at that table next year.

Thank you all for reading this and thank you Beth for loving me like nobody ever did.  I miss you more than words could ever express but I thank you for making my life so rich and full.
