Suspicious Email Alert

by on ‎05-10-2013 05:16 PM

We have received reports about a suspected fraudulent email claiming to be from QVC and asking customers to reply and update their information.  This is spam email, known as a “phishing” e-mail, and was NOT sent by QVC. “Phishing” is the use of deception to cause you to give your personal information to an unauthorized person.  The email below gives the appearance that it is from QVC.COM and it requests that customers click a link and enter sensitive personal information.  We will NEVER contact you by e-mail to obtain sensitive information from you.   If you receive an e-mail like this, DO NOT click on the attachment or any link and do not follow any instructions in the fraudulent email. Instead, delete the email.

If you replied to an e-mail like this and now believe it was fraudulent, please call us immediately at 800-367-9444.  You should also take the following steps:

- Open a new browser window and manually type QVC.com to open the website.

- Sign in to your account

- Click My Account, and in the Personal Information block, review and verify that your email address, physical Bill to and Ship to address, and all other customer information is correct

- In Personal Information, change your PIN by selecting the “email address and PIN” link.

There are often signs that will let you determine if an e-mail is legitimate or a “spoof.”  A phishing e-mail may include company logos that look real.  A typical phishing email will include a false claim about a customer’s account or reference the importance of privacy.  The message will include either a link, button, or attachment that takes you to a “spoof” website that mimics a reputable company’s actual website.  The message might attempt to convey a sense of urgency, such as telling you your order will be cancelled unless you reply.  It might contain spelling errors or bad grammar.  If you come across a phishing e-mail that identifies QVC, please email Customer Service here to alert us of the suspicious e-mail and then delete the suspicious email.
