Quacker Cookie Exchange!

Our Quacker Factory Live Audience Cookie Exchange Show coming up on November 27th at 1pm ET!!!

I am so excited to be a part of our Live Audience Cookie Exchange show this month.  This will be our third year, and everyone at QVC wants to be involved!  Pat James Dimentri & Jayne Brown were so excited to host the very first Cookie Exchange, they insisted on being a part of the show this year too!  I love those ladies!  I will be a part of their Fashionably Early show on Monday the 26th of November from 6 to 9am ET to kick the week off and get everyone excited for the show on the 27th!

Speaking of the big show; we will have our QUACK-TABULOUS Quackers filling the audience with their love and spirit, oh not to mention their SASS.  Leah Williams will be our amazing host for the show, and of course you will see your favorite Quacker Factory models, who will also share their cookie recipes!  Cheryl’s will be donating cookies for all the guests in the audience, so I’d like to thank Mary Eckenrode right now for her support with this!!!  Also don’t forget, we will have beautiful Quacker Factory fashions!  Are you excited?!?!  I am!!!

I wanted to share with you a little story.  A few weeks ago, the entire Quacker Factory team met in Florida for a few days of meetings and also some fun.  While we were there, we visited Jeanne’s home.  You know it wasn’t the same without her there, but it did smell like her and her perfume.  It made me a little sad, but it was nice to be there and remember her.  While I was looking through her book shelf, I found a very old book.  I was curious, so I pulled it off the shelf and started flipping through the pages.  Then I realized that this cookbook was originally owned by Mrs. Ernest Freund—Jeanne’s mother!  I noticed the date - January 19, 1937.  I was thrilled to hold this book in my hands.  So I asked Tim if I could have it, because I thought we could use some of the recipes for our Recipe Club on QuackerFactory.com.  I feel like I uncovered a real treasure!!

So here is my question to you—what is your favorite cookie recipe??  My Mom used to make spritz cookies, and my sisters and I would gobble them up quickly!!  I make a few “signature” cookies, ones that I always make and give away.  My white chocolate/macadamia/Crasin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and also my Snowflake Cookies.  I must confess—I got the Snowflake Cookie recipe from Paula Deen (from her Paula’ Deen’s Christmas magazine 2007), but I love to bake them and then give them out to friends and family.  You can see the recipe and pictures below!

We need your help to make this year’s Quacker Factory Cookie Exchange even better than last year’s! Whether you’re the queen of classic cookies or you enjoy experimenting with flavors, we want your recipe! Post your favorite recipes below in the comments section to share with fellow bakers and find new ideas to try this year. Please click "reply" at the bottom and type your favorite recipe into the comment box to share! Then make sure to tune in to QVC for our 3rd Annual Quacker Factory Cookie Exchange show on Tuesday, November 27th from 1 – 3 PM ET.

Until then—Quack, Quack for now!!

Cookies!

Snowflake Cookies

(Paula Deen Recipe)

Ingredients:

Cookies:

(Makes about 2-1/2 dozen)

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp almond extract

3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

Icing:

(Makes 1-1/2 cups)

1/4 cup cold water

2 Tbsp meringue powder (can be found in arts & crafts store cake aisle)

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

Food coloring

Silver dragées, sugar pearls, sparkling sugar

Preparation:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy. Beat in the eggs, vanilla, and almond extract until combined.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the sugar mixture, beating until smooth.  Wrap the dough in heavy-duty plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4” thickness. Cut with assorted snowflake cutters. Place 2” apart on the prepared baking sheets.

  4. Bake for 10 minutes, or until the edges are very lightly browned. Let cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheets. Remove the cookies from the pans and cool completely on wire racks.

  5. While the cookies are cooling, make the icing. In a medium bowl, combine the water and meringue powder. Whisk until foamy. Whisk in the confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Add the food coloring, if desired. Use immediately.

  6. Paint the cookies with the icing. Garnish with silver dragées, sugar pearls, and sparkling sugar, if desired.
