Reminiscing About the '80s & A Road Trip with Angel Smedley

All good things must come to an end. And so it is with summer. This weekend marks the unofficial close of the season and to celebrate, the Kerr's are once again throwing a cookout! We can only accommodate so many people at a time, so this weekend we're hosting my husband’s side of the family, including the in-laws. Wish me luck!

I had a little fun and adventure this past week with our good friend Angel Smedley from Quacker Factory. About a year ago I learned that Angel was a big fan of Duran Duran, an awesome '80s pop group. She recently scored tickets to an upcoming show in Atlantic City, and Angel was kind enough to invite me to see them in concert. Road trip! Duran Duran was one of the first groups to truly embrace the concept of the music video. I think back to when I was 9 years old and completely mesmerized by their flashy, exotic, and slick videos. I was glued to MTV and had the biggest crush on the leader singer, Simon Le Bon and the bass player, John Taylor. Jump to almost 30 years later and I was eager to see how the objects of my pre-teen crush had aged over the past three decades and also to rock out to some of my favorite songs from the '80s.

Well to make a long story short, we drove all the way to Atlantic City for the show just to find out it had been cancelled. Talk about disappointed! Apparently one of the band members had fallen ill and couldn’t perform. The night wasn’t a total loss though. Angel and I had a nice dinner and some girl talk on the drive home.

I don’t want you to be left sad and disappointed by missing our next edition of PM Style this Monday at 7pm ET. We have a big announcement to make during the show and of course we’ll be featuring some fantastic fashion. Chaz Dean will be stopping by with a new Auto-Delivery plan of his WEN seasonal cleansing conditioners. And also in the mix are fashions from Denim & Co., Susan Graver, and Effortless Style by Citiknits. Plus, take a look my "Perfect Pair" selection and tune in to the next PM Style to see my latest pick!

Have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend.

See you soon!
