QVC’s Very Own Dynamic Duo: Joan Rivers and Dennis Basso

Joan Rivers. Dennis Basso. Two powerhouses and true icons in their respective fields. I’ve been with QVC for five years and worked with both many times styling their shows and I can say with 100% certainty that what you see is what you get. Their personalities on air are true to who they are in person behind-the-scenes.

When I heard QVC was airing Joan Rivers & Dennis Basso: Designing Duo on Tuesday, 9/27 at 9 p.m., I had to laugh. Yes, Joan and Dennis are icons. But, put these two old friends together and they are nothing but “frick and frack." I worked with Dennis on a recent show and he told me, “It’s so natural to work with Joan because we’ve been friends for so long.” He also added, “She has such a clear vision of the world through the eyes of laughter.” Isn’t that sweet?

I have a feeling viewers will be laughing until they cry and shopping until they drop. I had the opportunity to view the items airing in the show — all new pieces. A few standouts for me (but, not available until showtime): Joan Rivers Sheath Dress; Joan Rivers Classic Wrap Dress with Bell Sleeve; Dennis Basso Turnkey Faux-fur Jacket with Leather Trim; Dennis Basso Textured Faux-fur Swing Jacket with Lined Cuffs, and last but not least, Joan Rivers Wide-leg Palazzo Pants (because I will always and forever be a sucker for palazzo pants).

Two of my favorite items are already available on QVC.com:

The first is Dennis Basso Textured Jacket with Velvet Chain Braiding Embellishment (A218519). Coincidentally, I was the stylist for this photo shoot. My vision was to give this classic jacket an urban, contemporary feel. Indigo jeans, white ribbed tank, and an ultra long strand of pearls updates the traditional jacket with fresh appeal.

The second is Joan Rivers Touch of Sparkle Sequin Blazer (A215732). I think this blazer is pure fun. Again, I would style with jeans or skinny black pants. Dress it down with a plain white crewneck T-shirt or dress it up with a sexy camisole. How about silky red pants & matching cami for a dressy, holiday look?

I’m so excited to hear your thoughts about the show! What are your favorites? Do you think Joan & Dennis should pair up more often?
