My Whirlwind New York Fashion Week Adventure

Up until a few days ago, Fashion Week was something I’d only seen online, in magazines, and on TV. But recently I had the rare opportunity to travel to NYC to share with you what the magic, energy and visual candy store Fashion Week 2015 is! In one lightning-fast day I travelled with a crew of friends to film interviews, take photos, and generally soak up the fashionable scenery. Let’s go!

A sunrise train departed from our sleepy West Chester, PA station. With me: Russell (Q stylist extraordinaire) and Kaitlin (social media mastermind). We were over-the-top giddy to be on our way!

First stop: The Strand hotel, where awaiting us was Jilian Veran from Laura Gellar Beauty. She worked her magic on me to get my makeup Fashion-Week ready, while Russell worked on my hair. They schooled me all the while on what looks were “it” for Fall/Winter 2015 like bold eye brows, lots of mascara, glossy lips, clean "unmade" skin, and touseled and messy waves. Thanks guys!

After changing into a sleek Dennis Basso lamb leather jacket, we headed up to the rooftop to film. With the Manhattan skyline as our backdrop, I had to take a moment to aknowledge how amazing this day was going to be.

Next, it was time to hit the streets of NYC with our camera crew. Next on the agenda: a visit to Dennis Basso's Madison Avenue flagship boutique for interviews…and a surprise!

After touring the couture wonderland that is the DB studio, we interviewed Dennis about his upcoming runway show. He is seriously one of the hardest working men in fashion!

After a few photos, I joked that it would be a dream come true to try on one of his intricate, deep red couture gowns. Dennis insisted I make that dream a reality right away.

Can I just say I still feel like royalty having donned that masterpiece?? And, it's a color I think you're going to be seeing a LOT more of come winter! Thank you Dennis for turning me (briefly) into Cinderella!

Next it was off to Stan Herman’s Bryant Park Studio, where Fashion Week was born. And did you know Stan himself was the mastermind behind its creation? We spoke with Stan about how Fashion Week was his brainchild, born of the need to put the US on the map as a force in fashion. Decades later, it’s obvious it worked. What a marvel.

With just an hour to go before our train departed back to PA, we jetted off to one of the hundreds of runway shows happening in the heart of NYC.  We filmed our farewells outside of the old NYC post office, where Jeremy Scott’s edgy designs were on the runways inside. My head was spinning taking in all the fashionable looks that passers-by were wearing. I’m so inspired to shake up my wardrobe now!

It’s so hard to believe it all happened in the span of about 6 hours! But it couldn’t have happened at all without a rockstar crew of hard working (but crazy fun) professionals. As I hopped back on a train to West Chester, I felt a wave of gratitude and and I real "I LOVE MY JOB" moment!

I was so inspired by the trip, that I put together a collection on qvc.com based on some of the looks I'm hoping to recreate! (think interesting ear-wear, tons of leather and suede, shades of red, saddle bag purses). Thank you for letting me share yet another magical Q experience with you…and I can’t wait for the next!

See you soon! XO
