My Son's Graduation & Knowing When to Adjust Your Sails

Hello my LCNY fashionistas... Most of you are aware that this past weekend on May 18 my son Larry graduated from college.  He attended West Virginia University for four years.  But what you did not know was the mountain he climbed to get to May 18.  His senior year in high school his Dad, my husband, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and so the battle began.  He applied to five schools and got in all of them and made the decision to go to WVU since his best friend would be attending there.  Best decision ever!  They roomed together for four years and went through many highs and lows together.  Fast forward to his Dad and I moving our handsome son who had just gotten off crutches into college for the fall semester of his freshman year.  On the home front the battle against cancer was raging on but we were loosing the fight.  Larry and the rest of the gang were told right before Christmas that their Dad was terminal.  He chose to stay home to be with his Dad that spring semester of his freshman year since time was of the essence.  Best decision ever!  His Dad passed away in February so those six weeks were priceless.  He went back to WVU in the fall.  Tough times, many late night phone calls, home sick, what am I doing here, should I be home with you and Kevin, but his mom kept on encouraging him and pushing him towards the finish line.  His father's final words to me were, "do not let this derail him Linda, you can do this, keep pushing" and so I did...

The Davies family has come a long way in three years.  Our girls are out on their own, working, and Sarah is getting married in June.  Kevin is a junior in high school and looking at colleges. So May 18 was an incredibly special day for all of us.  It was the first big family event (memory maker) without Larry Sr.. It has definitely marked time and where we have grown.  For Larry it is a new beginning.  I am so proud of him I could just bust.  He has the world and opportunities before him.  He weathered the storm and persevered. His story is not unlike the rest of us out there.  Many have been through tough times, divorce, loss of a loved one, employment issues, and illness but the constant in most of the stories is family, friends, and faith in whatever you believe in.

MBR and myself have 8 children between the two of us. We live life everyday just like you and speaking for the both of us treasure our relationship and friendship with all of you.  Come join us on Wednesday mornings at 9 am, we laugh, shop, poke fun at each other and share life's moments whether good or bad.  We have a new segment called the NEW YOU.  Maybe you are like Larry and starting fresh... a new job, retirement, now single, a new mom; whatever has changed your course.  It is a great time to check out LCNY fashions - maybe you will find something that helps you step out of the box... why not?  Remember it is all about YOU!  This is my mantra that keeps me going , if you need it I hope it inspires you... see you soon!
