My First Home!

I finally did it! After spending all of my life as a renter, I took the plunge and bought my first house!!!

Up to this point, I considered myself a rolling stone. I was a weather woman/entertainment reporter for years, and advancement always meant moving, so my mantra has always been “I like to move in six boxes or less.” It’s an exaggeration, I know, but you get the point. Last year, though, I was thinking about how happy I am at QVC and how much I like my life here and I thought “you know what? It’s time to plant roots and get that dog you’ve always wanted.”

So, I started the search for a home. After looking at dozens of homes, and submitting five offers, I finally bought my first home (I’m sliding in to 50, so it’s probably about time!). As you know, moving is no fun. I spent five days packing (I’m getting old, so I went to bed with a sore back every night).

And it probably goes without saying, but Bailey and Olivia were no help at all!!

I had the downstairs in the new home painted. This is my color scheme (dk. blue, blue, gray, and yellow).

It’s so funny, because after days of packing, the movers moved me in in only three and a half hours!! My first meal in my new home wasn’t fancy, but after a day of dealing with boxes it was satisfying.

Moving, for me, takes a village, so when I got overwhelmed with unpacking Alberti came over to help me arrange furniture and decorate.

Jane DeNoble and TJ demystified my unmarked fuse box, and labeled all of the switches (just imagine us screaming “the lights went off in the living room,” or “the lights just went off in the upstairs bathroom” lol).

And of course Kerstin is here all of the time (to collect me for our morning walks, and to help me make lists of what I need to do next). One of her favorite spots in the house is the exposed brick wall in the laundry room.

I still have plenty to do, but I’ve already put out two of my favorite pieces… my rotary phone, which actually works, and my old typewriter.

I’m so happy in my new home, and I can’t wait to decorate!!
