Mom's 81st Birthday Gift

What do you give your mother for her 81st birthday? Exactly what she wants: a plane ticket to visit you, and to go to Washington D.C. for the Women’s March. Her wish is my command, so that’s exactly what I did.

My mom arrived late Monday evening, so we had just enough time to snuggle up with Nahla and talk. She was the Nahla whisperer, by the way, Nahla did whatever she said (who knew Nahla could respond to commands so well!!).

I had to work in the afternoon the next day so she spent some time knitting her hat for the march.

We both love the movies, and Hidden Figures was on our “must see” lists, so off to the movies we went. It was fabulous, and I highly recommend it!

The visit wouldn’t be complete without seeing my BFF Kerstin. My mom loved her and her family, just like I do.

We then went to one of my favorite Italian Restaurants and toasted to her glorious 81 years on the planet.

I love my little town, and I knew just the place for breakfast the next day.

And my dear friends (and home improvement helpers—read: they do most of it) Jane and T.J. stopped by to say hello and to pick up some tools T.J. had left here.

I had to work on her final morning here, so we took one more pic. Me in full make up of course.

She is my light and my joy, and it’s an honor and a gift to be able to give her exactly what she wants!

Happy glorious birthday mommy!!
