Making Family Memories is the BEST!

Since moving to the East Coast I’ve gotten to see my family so much more than when I lived on the West Coast.  My brother, sister-in- law and two nieces live in New York and my parents spend the summer there with them.  It’s a win/win for everyone involved, and has allowed us to spend a lot more quality time together as a family.

This past weekend my brother and I planned a few special things for my parents because on August 7th they will be celebrating 40 years of marriage.  We celebrated a bit early simply because this was the weekend we had available.

On Friday, my mom and I walked the Erie Canal and had some mother/daughter bonding time. Smiley Happy

Mom loved trying out her new Philosophy Body Crème.  She makes me laugh so hard – I looked over and she was dipping her finger in the body crème pretending to be like Mari Lyn and me!  Hahah!!

Saturday we took the kiddos to the pool and had a really nice family get together with my immediate family and with my brother’s in-laws.  One of the family members has a beehive and they were kind enough to give me honey from their yard!!

Later that night, my brother, sister in law and I took my parents out for a nice dinner to celebrate 40 years of marriage.  We reminisced and laughed, shared stories and had a great time!!

The next day we had a family cookout fit with Rastelli’s Steaks and St. Clair’s twice baked potatoes.  For Thanksgiving last year, I ordered side dishes from St. Clair’s and they were a huge hit, so I knew I had the right idea by ordering from them again for the anniversary BBQ.  This was a great time and the food was delicious!!

My final day of the trip came too quickly.  We planned to take a boat ride or a kayak down the Erie Canal but a huge storm rolled in.   So Dad and I had a little competition to see who worked out harder (he won) and mom and I decided to go get our nails done.
