Italy for 50!

Pushing the reset button at 50! So for my 50th birthday I wanted to feed my inner explorer, and a trip abroad seemed just the thing. I chose Italy because I fell in love with the country when I visited 26 years ago (yikes!!). I took an 8-day tour that traveled from Rome to Milan. While I took over 400 pictures, these are a few of the biggies!

Where do you start in Rome? The Vatican Museum, of course, and I was humbled just standing there.

In St. Peter’s Square. It was a treat to be where faithful from around the world gather to hear the Pope.

The Coliseum. Wow!

I made a wish at Trevi Fountain. I have video that I’ll post later.

In Orvieto I was delighted to see this piano player outside this gorgeous church.

In Assisi on my birthday. When I was in the 6th grade I wrote a book report on St. Francis, so it was amazing to be here.

Besides the canals, Venice is known for Murano glass. Such artistry and technique!

It was pouring in Venice, but a brief clearing was cause for celebration in Piazza San Marco.

This is Juliet’s balcony in Verona, the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Milan. The Duomo. Breathtaking.

An excursion to Lake Como. It’s such a special place; you can understand why celebrities flock here.

So this look on my face is how I felt for the entire trip. Happy, peaceful, and ready to take on the next 50!

All my best,

Rachel
