In the Kitchen with David - June 26th Show

by on ‎06-24-2011 03:05 PM

Hello, foodies…

Is there anything better than the smell of a summer barbecue? I get hungry just thinking about that summer grill sizzle and all those fantastic flavors! While I’m sure we’ll all be grilling the typical burgers, dogs, and chicken, have you ever thought about using the grill to cook some unusual things? This Sunday’s In The Kitchen with David is dedicated to non-traditional grilling and will include some creative and inventive grilling recipes.

Cookbook Corner” will welcome back a popular book that concentrates on pressure cooking. Bob Warden will be here with Slow Food Fast (F07711). These easy-to-follow recipes (all 115!) are designed to help get the most out of your pressure cooker. Don’t miss the Beef Pot Roast, Macaroni & Cheese, and even Key Lime Cheesecake! We’ve sold more than 175,000 copies. So if you own a pressure cooker, you'll definitely want to reserve your copy!

David’s Recipe” on Sunday will support our theme of non-traditional foods on the grill. I’m making my Grilled Meat Loaf in the Technique® Stainless Steel Wire Square Grill Basket (K17513). Meat loaf takes on a whole new flavor when you cook it slow on the barbecue. After it comes off, serve it with your favorite sauce and, of course…a side of crispy French fries! We’ll post the recipe for you on QVC.com. You can also find the recipe and more on my Facebook page. (You can even follow me on Twitter!)

“Food For Thought” this week focuses on marinades. I love marinating foods before they go on the grill and marinades are so easy to make or buy. If you're making a marinade from scratch, start with wine or vinegar, then add olive oil, and your favorite herbs. I sometimes add some lemon or lime juice…especially when grilling chicken or fish. Just remember — you don't want to marinate meats for too long, otherwise they'll become mushy. If you're making chicken, marinate it for 4  6 hours. Beef should be marinated for about 6  8 hours.

So, here's your blog question for this week. What's the most unusual or non-traditional food you make on your barbecue? What unexpected grilling dish has your family and friends coming back for seconds? Share your ideas and your recipes here and let’s all cook as many meals as possible outside on that hot and versatile grill! See you Sunday at Noon ET!

Keep it flavorful!

David
