Home Sweet Home Improvement

I like watching those home improvement shows! It’s fun to see the transformations that happen when designers and contractors make over a space. It seems so easy in a 60 minute tv show. But in real life...not so much.

Last fall, I decided I wanted to make a few home improvements. It started with a small list: floor upgrades and new paint.

My small improvements soon became a major overhaul. I always thought they exaggerated the part on those home makeover shows where the homeowner encounters problems that cut into the budget and add to the time. I discovered that was no exaggeration.

I started my home improvement project with every intention of completing things before Christmas. Well...it’s February and things are finally wrapping up. So I thought I’d share a few photos. There were days when I thought, “why did I ever start this?” But in the end, it feels like Home Sweet Home!

Every piece of furniture in my house was displaced for a time

I bought white boards and tested paint colors to help me make my decision

The soft yellow (did you think it would be any other color!  LOL) that I picked for the walls worked well with the white trim

I loved the old dresser - the knotty pine, not so much - paint to the rescue

So - how did I do?  I am really pleased with it but I have to say that going through it all, there were definitely a few times I was ready to "throw in the towel"!  Now that it's all done though, I'm glad I didn't!

All my best,

Leah
