Holiday Advice - ""In the Nick of Time""

by on ‎12-10-2012 11:18 AM

Between work, kindergarten, preschool, food shopping, gift shopping, birthday parties, holiday parties, dance class, charities, and housework, it can be incredibly difficult to get everything done in time.  I think I am busier this year than ever, because in addition to all of the afore-mentioned, I have a few in-laws coming to stay for a few days over Christmas.  I know you understand, because we all go through this to some degree every year.

Well, I’m here to be your friend, and tell you what no one else will.  There is a way to get through it all with less stress, as you are finishing the final touches that will make it a perfect holiday.  You may not believe me, but the answer is this…………it’s okay to say no sometimes.  I know that we all want to be involved with everything, but sometimes it makes more sense to say no to the 4th holiday party for the week, so you can stay home and make Caramel Apple Cider with the kids, or watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  It’s perfectly alright  to truly remember to take care of yourself, and keep the family close.  The memories of  the ridiculous roof caving in on the gingerbread house will stick with you a lot longer than the dozens of faces that pass by at a large gathering.  I’m sharing this with you because I just gave myself permission to step back this year, and it has helped my realize what is truly important.  It’s time to make some amazing holiday memories with all of the joy, and none (at least less!) of the craziness!!
