On Friday, I was inducted into my high school Hall of Fame. The events of the day included a brunch with the two other inductees, the administration, some of the students, teachers and our families; a presentation to the student body, tour of the school (which has changed so much over the last 35 years that I barley recognized it), a pep rally and finally the homecoming football game.  

We were officially introduced at the brunch and were asked to give a brief speech to those gathered.  I was so overwhelmed I did my speech with tears running down my face.  I didn’t mean to make others tear up too, it’s not how I planned for this to go.. but I was so honored to be chosen.

I was thrilled to see some of my favorite teachers at the event and to be able to thank them for the positive influence that they had on my life.  My speech to the student body was from the stage of the auditorium where 36 years ago I stood for many choral performances, variety shows, plays etc.  It was strange to be standing there again after so many years, but then again it felt very familiar.

I spoke about the various activities that I was blessed to participate in while at Penncrest and that I had no idea how those activities would end up having such a positive impact on my life as an adult.  I talked about the wonderful teachers that supported me and encouraged the students to take advantage of the well-rounded education that our school offers.  I reminded them of something I have learned over the years, that truly not everyone has that opportunity.

What a wonderful day!  I am so thankful and blessed to be able to share this with you.  I have to say, this was truly one of the greatest honors of my life.
