ACCESSORIES HEAD TO TOE

I'm so excited to present to you our "Simple to Sensational" looks for our big 24-hour Accessories Head to Toe event. I've had fashion fever ever since heading up to New York earlier this month for NY Fashion Week. The looks I watched sashay down the runway were jaw-droppingly gorgeous but it seems the items that received the most buzz were the accessories! Accessories are a great way to express your personality through fashion. Whether your style is laid-back and bohemian, quintessential classic, or hip and trendy, accessories allow you to make a statement without saying a word.

Some of the key elements to keep in mind when accessorizing this year are color, contour, and shine. So how do you incorporate these trends? Check out our examples below!

For all you ladies working 9 to 5, dressing professionally doesn't have to be boring. Here we've started with a timeless sheath dress and a neutral shoe. The sheath dress is a perfect canvas for accessorizing because of its flattering fit and clean lines. By adding the double-breasted blazer we give a nod to menswear but keep the look feminine by accentuating the waist with a pink skinny belt. The belt and layered bracelets provide an eye-catching pop of color. A bold statement watch and mid-size handbag finish off the look. When dressing casually, accessories can make the difference between an outfit looking pulled on instead of pulled together. I love this tonal top and pant combination. It's easy and effortless but has a sophisticated, chic vibe. But we can take this outfit to the next level with the addition of a handful of accessories. My number-one must-have accessory is a great pair of oversized sunglasses. Just by slipping on some shades you add instant glamour to any outfit (plus I can get away with not wearing makeup!). The addition of a statement bracelet and watch help to adorn the wrists and a longer-length necklace works nicely paired with a scarf. Yes, layering a scarf and a necklace together! Who knew?! The scarf and belt add some subtle color to what is a neutral ensemble. A splash of color can bring an outfit to life and our friends at VT Luxe will show you how to incorporate color into your wardrobe. Along with color this look also benefits from a little sparkle in the form of gold metallic peep-toe flats. I think the flower embellishment on the show looks so kicky and adorable peeking out from the pant leg. Pulling it all together is the chain-strap handbag, whose hardware adds edge. Classic and comfortable with a modern twist!

For many of us, our wardrobe has to multitask. Our daywear also needs to function as evening wear, and the key to the transformation is accessories. In our day look the standout piece is a flowy, patterned boho skirt. The Spanx tank top helps to smooth and contour her upper body and the shoe is a flirty, strappy wedge sandal. So how do we take this boho chic gal out for a night on the town? The key pieces remain the same—all we've done is add bronze-toned jewelry, a jacket and belt, and a sleek bronze clutch. Notice the bold size of the necklace, ring, and cuff. And see how we've created a mix of materials by adding a denim jacket? I like the contrast of the toughness of the jacket with the softness of the skirt—very hip and up to date. The belt helps to define the waist under the jacket and the clutch adds the glam factor. When hanging at the beach or by the pool, you don't need much in the way of fashion—a bathing suit, flip-flops, and some good sunscreen are really all you need! However, swimwear is moving from the water to the street. When you head to the shore this summer, inject a little old Hollywood glamour into your look by making your swimwear your outfit for the day. I know what you're thinking, "Girl, please!" But trust me, our pros Jesse and Joe show you how it's done. In our example, we use a colorful scarf as a sarong, giving plenty of coverage over the backside and thighs. By replacing the flip-flop with a wedge heel, our legs appear longer and leaner. The hat and jewelry add that movie-star appeal while the golden fabric handbag is a practical, lightweight replacement for your traditional beach tote.
