Friday Favorites: Organized Style

After working as a host at QVC for more than 20 years, I have to tell you….I HAVE STUFF!  I’m always looking for new ways to organize things,  from makeup and jewelry to car clutter and clothes.  I’ve found some great products to help me keep order, which in turn, saves me time.  And since we’re all in this together…I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you!

Let’s start with home decor…a favorite of mine, in case you didn’t know!  I love to swap pieces out with the season, but where do I store pumpkins in April and tulips in December?  I’ve found these great storage boxes by Kano.

I like that they’re made out of durable canvas.  They also keep their shape because of their metal frame.  And the clear window allows me to see what’s inside, even when they’re on a top shelf.  I’m ordering a few more sets of these…I think they’ll be great for storing off season clothing and bedding.

Ever hear of the 80/20 rule?  You know the idea that you wear 20 percent of your wardrobe, 80 percent of the time?  That’s me with jewelry.  I have a lovely armoire filled with pretty things…but I have my steady look of sterling silver and another regular suite of gold jewelry that are my tried and true.  So, to keep those most reached for pieces easily accessible, I rely on these drawer organizers from Lori Greiner.

I can open my dresser drawer, make my selections for the day from my most favorite pieces, and be on my way.

These are lined with Lori’s Silver Safekeeper technology, so my sterling silver doesn’t tarnish either.  They’ve worked great for me…I like being able to see what I have, know it’s protected, and I like that it’s easy to put pieces away too.

I learned about Glamboxes through Instagram.  I kept seeing these photos of beautiful vanities completely organized in these fancy, almost glass like, boxes.

You can imagine how psyched I was when QVC started to carry them!  Let me just say…they aren’t cheap.  In fact, some of you will undoubtedly gasp and question the price.  I did too.  But this box has changed my makeup life.  No lie.  The quality is fabulous…it doesn’t scratch, it’s heavy, the drawers glide in and out so smoothly.  And I can see….everything!

I actually have a system to getting ready now…foundations and powders, top drawer.

Eyeshadows and blushes, bottom drawer.

Liners, lipsticks and glosses, in the middle.

I forced myself to clean out before I loaded it up…and I’m shocked that as full as the drawers still are, they don’t collapse down and spill out as I pull out each drawer.

Glambox includes some extras like the brush holder and drawer divider just for QVC (usually sold separately.)  Maybe it’s not for everyone…but if you’ve ever looked at them or considered…just wanted you to know I’d give it 10 stars if I could.  You can get a similar look, but not a similar quality.  In other words…go GLAM!

I’m a huge fan of skinny tees and Spanx camisoles.  But when you have quite a few of them, they really take up precious drawer real estate!  I thought I’d show you how I like to hang them…not on individual hangers, but by using shower curtain rings!

I can hang about a dozen camisoles or tanks on one hanger ( I do skinny tees on one and Spanx on the other.)  I can easily find the color or style I need, without rummaging through a drawer.  Just a simple little hack that I love and thought you might too!

Jill Bauer confession….I use my car trunk the way I used to use my high school locker.  I’m always dumping something in there…and then forgetting about it because it gets buried under the next day’s stuff.  I need help with this one…and the best thing I’ve found are these great organizers from Sachi

I use 2 of them in my trunk.  Great for groceries, dry cleaning, trips to Costco and all of the kids’ stuff (do you know how annoying a baseball rolling around in your trunk can be?? ) These are life savers!!

And then, there’s lock and lock.  The best multitasking item I think we carry on QVC.  They’ll organize your junk drawer or pantry in no time.

Some people only use them for leftovers…I use them for anything I can find.  There are so many sets to choose from, surely there’s a set for you!

What I’ve found is that when you have to right products to help you get organized, being organized is much easier.  When every thing has a place, it’s easier to find and easier to put away…which saves you time and for me, eases stress.  If you decide to give any of these ideas or products a try, let me know what you think.

Happy Organizing!

JB
