Color Blocking & Classic Designs

by on ‎12-05-2012 05:54 PM

With modern technology and today's fast-paced environment, it's easy to forget the simple pleasures in life. A handwritten note or holiday card is more heartfelt than our modern day e-mail. Sharing the joy of decorating cookies or holiday crafting with young ones bonds family and friends. These are the fond memories and traditions that can be passed down through generations.

Like holiday tradition, fashion is bringing back styles that were popular years ago. As the saying goes, "Everything old is new again!"

The sleek lines and color blocking of A226166 is reminiscent of Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian color block dress of 1965, while A218750 reminds me of Grace Kelly, and now of course Kate Middleton! The animal print in A229135 emulates the leopard print worn by Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy, designed by Oleg Cassini in the 60's.

As a fashion designer for 30 years, I have seen trends come and go, and recycled in modern ways. Lately, many of my prints and designs are recreated from those that were popular in the 60's, 70's and 80's, but with a new twist and updated, figure flattering styling.

Do you have any Susan Graver pieces from the past that you have rediscovered or still wear today? What about fashion tips passed down from your mother or grandmother? Any special holiday traditions you celebrate with your family? I'd love to hear from you!

Please join me Thursday, December 6th at 9am ET for fabulous holiday designs!

Xoxo,

Susan
