I love having friends with beach houses!!!!! In this case its a friend that lives at the beach year round (my dream!) And what an awesome house it is. Though I woudn't expect anything less from this friend. Jane DeNoble is our resident organization gal. She brings you those awesome clutter free hangars, the easy on shower curtains and so much more including my absolute favorite the Green Drying rack. She stages houses for sale when she isnt at the Q so you can imagine her gorgoeus beach house was awesome.
It's alot to take on the Lindquist clan, all two adults and two little people, but she insisted we come stay with her when she heard we were going to be in her neck of the woods. Dan & the girls and I are always on the hunt for "our" east coast beach so this summer we have done lots of short trips up and down the Jersey and Delaware coast. Pat James Dementri and another awesome guest, Amy Scaglione, had been telling me to go a bit further north to get just big open beaches without all the extra "stuff" that my family can do without. So we did and let me tell you it was heaven!
Jane was so kind and welcoming, we used her bikes each morning and rode for miles along the beautiful coast. The girls got the best ride in town if you ask me.
One morning I was up before the rest of the crowd and walked down to the beach all alone to do my devotionals. It was so pretty and peaceful.
What I love most about this beach is it really has the look and feel for home - California. There was some killer surf, and dudes talking "surf-speak" which I havent heard since living on the west coast. The water was warm (unlike California) but very clear and blue. We spent seven hours on the beach one day and six the next.
We tried to stay out of Janes way but she was so hospitable and fed us and played with the girls and hung out with us at the beach.
She made us a fabulous dinner our last night with her and I had to share the recipe for her summer side dish. It's grilled zucchini.
Here's the super simple recipe:
Scoop out seeds and grill for about 10 mins. Remove from grill. Stuff them with lemon dill hummus, top with basil pesto, roasted red peppers, and feta( optional) put back on grill for another 10 minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
Our last day in town she walked us around and showed us some of the fun shops.
She also showed us the spectacular Mexican food. I judge a location by how good of a Mexican food and seafood selection it has. Ha!
We vowed to come back! We truly loved the beach and felt a little closer to our west coast home just be being there. Jane even insisted next time we bring the entire clan..including our bulldog Gourdie. Thanks Jane for your kindness and hospitality!!!
Xoxo
