Join me this morning for >>>Saturday Morning Q<<< from 10am-2pm et with David Venable!

One of the games at Bens baby shower was “Ten facts about Ben.” The tiebreaker question was “How many states has Ben traveled to?”  He was nine weeks old at this point, and already a seasoned traveler. When they are tiny they actually travel pretty well. He slept a ton and because of the necessity of bonding after adoption, the majority of his time was spent in a carrier on my chest or his papas. We figured we could assume that position just about anywhere.  So we kept our summer plans that had been promised to the girls since the spring.

We did our annual trip to Chatham, Ma with my good girlfriend and her family. We’ve been going there now for more than ten years and it’s always a highlight of our year. We spend every day on the boat or on the beach or at the pond. There is something so magical about the New England seaside. Ben thrived in the clean ocean air. His grandma bought his what we called a “Baby Cave” so he didn’t get too much sun and he happily slept and grew while the girls played in the water.

On our way up to the Cape we spent the night on Rose Island off the coast of Newport, RI.  We had signed up to be lighthouse keepers for the night. It was a year in the works and we were so excited.  There was no electricity or refrigeration on the island but we stayed in a beautiful old Barracks and the views were unparalleled.  We were taken out by boat in the morning and picked back up the next day. We cooked out, swam, toured the island by Kayak (not Ben of course) and marveled at the beauty of this place.  It was a magical visit, one we will always remember. Ben slept nearly the entire time. The cool breeze lulled him to dream land.

On the way back from our trip to Cape Cod we spent a night in New York City. That’s always been one of our favorite places. This time we stayed in SoHo and visited a restaurant we had read about in our favorite Coastal magazine.  It was a ship docked in called the Grand Banks that had been turned it into a restaurant. It was so up our alley!

Our girls spent their first years as California beach babies and it seemed fitting that our boy would feel the breeze off the water early on in his beautiful life as well. What a summer of great memories for our entire family.

So how many states has Ben visited since at now 10 weeks old????  Check my Facebook page on September 24th for the answer!

God Bless,

Kerstin
