I've been a doll collector for almost 30 years and I collect several different types and brands.

But, two of my most prized possessions are the Barbie that is reminiscent of the very first Barbie, created the same year I was born, 1959! So, I think of Barbie and me as kindred spirits. I feel incredibly special that Barbie was "born" the same year as me!

I believe my parents gave me my first Barbie when I was about 5 or 6 years old, which gave me many hours and years of playtime. I loved changing her shoes and outfits. I lost many of shoes along the way too! : ) 

My other favorite Barbie is Bob Mackie's collector Barbie which I bought from QVC. Later Bob autographed her for me! 

They stay in mint condition in their boxes. Hopefully someday, if I am blessed with a granddaughter, I will take them out, so she and I can play with them together!
Oh, what a joy that will be!

 

So, of course I was thrilled to learn we would offer the 2015 Holiday Barbie! She is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to get her home to join the rest of my collection. I am not on the air tonight, but this beauty will be featured during our 4 hours Christmas in July grand finale beginning at 8pm ET. I sure hope you will be able to tune in!
