10 Things to Know About ME!

by ‎07-01-2015 01:12 PM - edited ‎07-02-2015 12:53 PM

I am SO excited to be back at the Q for Christmas in July, bringing you some amazing new things from Ellen's line, ED On Air! And I was thinking, since you all have so graciously let me "into" your homes for the past year, maybe I should get to know you a little better! I am so grateful to be a part of the QVC family, and so proud to work with one of the most amazing human beings in the world... ELLEN!

So, here's 10 things to know about me... everything from guilty pleasures to my most embarassing moment... not holding anything back here! Hopefully you'll make me feel better by sharing yours too Smiley Happy

Q: How did you get into interior design?

TN: I always loved watching my dad's design visions come to life (he’s an architect!) He’s been an inspiration for me to follow my heart and my love for design and become an interior designer. Now I have the pleasure of designing homes and restaurants across the country with my firm Taniya Nayak Design LLC and on TV! He has been, and still is, a true mentor to me.

Q: Where is home for you?

TN: I travel 85% of my time, but home has always been just outside of Boston for me. This is the view from my window. Such peace and tranquility! Home Sweet Home!

Q: Favorite holiday traditions?

TN: We have my family and my husband's family over to the house every Christmas. We eat, play games, and every New Years a bunch of us do the Polar Bear Plunge! Brrrrrrrrr!

Q: Most star-struck moment?

TN: Well, it's pretty apparent…meeting Ellen for the first time! STILL every time I meet up with her I leave there thinking, “oh man I can't believe I said that!” Lol I just get soooo star-struck, but she always makes me feel beyond comfortable. We love to chat about our love for design!

Q: Favorite thing in your home?

TN: This riddling rack wine storage was found in the basement of where I met my hubby after the place closed down (a restaurant we both used to work at). He had it cut down and refinished for me. I love it and it always makes me smile.

Q: Heroes?

TN: My mom is hands down my hero! She smiles all the time and shows love and pure goodness to everyone she meets. All of my friends refer to her as their second mom. I love that, and I feel so blessed to have her as my Mohero ( short for Mom hero?)

I also need to give a little cred most recently to Chef Robert Irvine. Working with him over the last 5 years on Food Networks' Restaurant: Impossible, I have learned so much about myself, and also how to be a leader. He holds people accountable for their actions. It sounds so simple, but it really is a life lesson and a great skill to be able to get the best out of people. (Haha I love this pic!)

Q: Most embarrassing moment?

TN: I don't have a pic of this, thank goodness! I was doing a big reveal of a teen’s bedroom to a group of teenagers on one of my first shows called Knock First on ABC Family. I had them all pumped up and ready to run into the house and see it. I was leading the pack and ran nose first into the CLOSED glass sliding door! Bounced right off that baby!

Q: Favorite food?

TN: My guilty pleasure is pepperoni and onion pizza (a little burned). But my all time fave is sushi from Fuji in Quincy, MA. I eat there once or twice a week if I am home. It’s usually my first stop when I get back from the airport before I even go home. In fact, now that I'm talking about it- I'm going to go tonight!

Q: Proudest Moment?

TN: Hands down, my proudest moment on a personal level was my wedding day. I have the greatest support and love ever! And he's a handsome fella too! Smiley Wink

My proudest moment career wise was being put to the "test" on The Ellen Show recently. I had to demo what it is like to be on air live for QVC, meanwhile, Ellen was full of surprises and distractions just trying to break me, hahaha it was hilarious!

Q: What do you love about working with Ellen?

TN: I knew Ellen was going to be just as amazing and awesome as I have always thought she was from watching her over the years on TV, but she far and above exceeded my expectations. We’ve had the most sincere chats and she has graciously sent me handwritten notes and beautiful tokens of appreciation for being on her ED On Air team. I’m so thrilled to be working with this amazing human being and doing something that we both feel a tremendous passion for…design! I love the fact that she follows her heart, does what she loves, and shares that with the rest of us!
