When I bathe or wash dishes it turns my nail polish white, what could cause this?

I know it sounds crazy but it is true, just got thru bathing and polish on fingernails and toenails turned white. Same if I handwash something. Takes about an hour and nail polish goes back to the right color, know it is not my polish because I use a different kind every week. Can't figure this out unless it is hard water.
