I have discovered cushion foundations when are thinner than liquid foundation which can be built upon.  Physician's Formula has one and so does IT.  You might consider these.

I am over 50 with oily acne prone skin, and I don't like foundation either. I have used Neutrogena skin clearing, L'Oreal True Match, and Almay TLC.  They all worked for me.

My skin is looking better now thanks to Paula's Choice products so I have been using Olay Total Effects CC cream and/or tinted moisturizers for a few years now as my foundation.  I add a bit of concealer where it is needed and finish with shine free powder.  It feels better to have less product on my face. I also think as I age I am less concerned about having perfect skin - not going to happen.
