I had watched briefly last night and just tuned in a bit ago. I thought I had heard wrong last night because I was so tired LOL
He has his new shampoo & conditioner which are silicone free. He said that a trichologist ? had told him that silicones in hair care ( maybe just the conditioner ) will cause your hair to fall out. He said he was told that the silicone makes the hair so slippery that is will cause the hair to fall out from the root if you use it?
Never heard that one before. Anyone know if this is true or not....having a hard time believing it makes hair slippery so it just slips out of your head like he was explaining LOL I can see where silicones may have some effect for some......but not how he explained it.

Would explain a lot. I bet he was referring to Philip Kingsley (trichologist). I've got a book by him (I never got around to read), and I will look to see if he mentions this.

I am sorry but I heard it too and had to laugh. He said they literally make the hair slide out of the root.
I would like to see any scientific study that has shown this to occur because I've read several that debunk that myth. If you understand the basic biological aspects of hair then you will know this is not true. And if it were, I want to slather silicones all over my legs, etc so that they will all fall out and I will be hairless there, lol! And then you won't need to use any hair removal on your face because skincare often contains silicones so that is another benefit!
LOL, anyway, just having a little fun but I truly felt that that statement was just over the top. Almost every brand out there has silicones in it so people's hair would be falling out all over the place!

I use silicone products on my hair. (I have so many hair care products, I could open a store!) I think what Dimitri said is probably true because --- (and this is JMHO & I can only speak for my hair .. )
Silicones coat my hair and make it nice n' "slick" and easy to comb. However, by day # 3, I have a nasty "oil slick" -- AND the oilier my scalp becomes, the more my hair falls out. I bought his TTV (shampoo kit) because I know what silicones do to my hair and I feel I need to stay away from them.
BTW, there's a beauty U-tuber I watch who washes her hair every day. She has a LOT of hair .. thick and long. But, I bet she has to wash her hair everyday because she LOVES silicones. (Again, JMHO.)

It's a ridiculous statement. I don't use any silicone products on my hair simply because I follow, to some degree, the curly girl method. I notice that I now don't have any gunk or residue on my hair.
But hair sliding out of the root? You've got to be kidding, DJ. I've heard him come up with some whoppers, but this has to take the cake.

Ok now I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought that just sounded so wrong. LOL
I really thought maybe I had heard it wrong the 1st time.

In all fairness, D stated he saw a trichologist ( a hair and scalp specialist) who told him the silicones were making his hair fall out...perhaps it is an allergy, who knows...I googled silicone/hair loss and found a few blogs which made for interesting reading...for most I think it is diet, vitamin deficiency and hereditary factors that determine hair loss...for women, loss of hormones after menopause (my mom ) I liked how my hair was after using the samples of his shampoo ( I liked how my hair looked and felt after using Wen the first time too!) but after time, I needed to "strip" some of the residue, I think my hair got weighed down and heavy...I am sure it is a personal thing, some will love it, others won't...he did preface all comments with what he was told from his specialist so take that for what it is...he made no medical claims and I doubt silicones for most don't cause hair loss...just like silicones for most don't cause milia (though they do for some as seen on this forum)

Where is this being shown? The first time I saw "skinn" on here, I thought someone didn't know how to spell the word! (sorry)
I gather that some of you really like this product line, or you wouldn't talk about it so much .... am I correct?

@Tinkrbl44 Dimitri James, creator and owner of Skinn Cosmetics has his own website, but also visits Evine monthly except for August. I began using Skinn late last year and haven't looked back. I still have some non-Skinn items in my routine, but what I am using from Skinn has made a big impact. My skin has never looked better in all my adult life. I have mixed feelings on the makeup though. Some of the products work nicely for me, but others not so much.
