Primer/ tinted moisturizer ????

I'm a big fan of how a face primer "erases" so many flaws and makes my skin look overall quite nice. But, I also need to use a moisturizer. I prefer a nice tinted one; kills two birds with one stone you might say. Am I actually getting the benfits of both, or just wasting one or the other? Would you use the primer first, then the tm? You ladies are so smart I wanted your opinions on this one. TIA
