OT - Will "return to sender" work so don't have to pay return shipping?

Hello ladies!

I forgot to extend an auto delivery and now have some product I don't need. I haven't opened the package yet - can I just write "return to sender" to have it sent back without paying the return shipping or should I open the package and send back with the return label?
