OT....Does anyone cook a special New Year's Day meal for luck?

I always have the traditional blackeyed peas and cooked cabbage...for good luck and prosperity..

Other traditions I observe are putting a dollar bill over the front door for new money to come in, avoid doing laundry on New Year's Day so noone is washed out of my life and cook with a little pork for progress...

Obviously, these are superstitions, but I never fail to do all of this and it all seems to work!

Anyone else?

I don't, and as a matter of fact I've never heard of any of these.

I love "superstitions" like these, though -- I think they help with focus and intent. At least for a day. :-)

No. I gave up. It just doesn't work.

I was glad to see 2014 come to an end. It wasn't a good year and I ate cabbage and pork on New Year's Day.

Oh, yes!!! My DMIL would NEVER have missed eating pork and black eyed peas for NYD... this year we considered passing this tradition by. Due to my superstitious nature, we decided to have this for dinner.... just to be sure!!!

Nope. I don't live by superstition.
