Re: New! POP Leaf sonic facial device

@Pook @JeanLouiseFinch @TY & ladies intrigued with skin care:

As a researcher, I'm still checking these devices out. I gave up on the Clarisonic when I experienced broken capillaries on my cheeks, then read numerous reports of that (even with a gentle brush and soft touch). Several dermatologists (online) explained the stress of the brush on skin, especially recommended against using it twice a day.

I have the Foreo Luna and enjoy it, the silicon tips are gentler on the skin.

It is not impossible for a $20 device to deliver the same sonic speed, for example, as the Foreo Luna. It can feel great and be just what you want, but the higher speed is missing.

So, today's search:

Foreo Luna, 8,000 vibrations per minute

POP sonic: 6,000 vibrations per minute

[cheaper versions never say]

I'm gonna stick with the Foreo Luna, BUT really like that pointed tip on the POP to get around the nose and hard to reach areas.

UPDATE: (didn't realize the anti-aging step!)

How to Use the Foreo Luna

The Foreo Luna is meant to be used twice per day, in the morning and at night, during your skin cleansing routine.

The first part is the actual cleansing of the skin to remove dirt, oil and makeup. To do this, apply your regular facial cleanser to the skin and spread it throughout the face. Then, turn on the cleansing side of the Foreo Luna and gently rub the bristles on the skin. Each part of the face should get approximately 15 seconds of scrubbing per session, which should help lift up some of the dirt and oils from the pores. After the scrubbing portion is complete, turn off the device, wash the face cleanser off your skin, and pat it dry with a clean towel.

At this point, you are ready for the anti aging step. Turn on the anti aging side of the Foreo Luna and apply it to each treatment area for about 12 seconds. Once you’ve completed this step, turn off the device and proceed with your regular skin care routine.

@1Professor  I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.  IMO you are making statements and attributions that just aren't true.  As someone who has used both the genuine Foreo Luna Mini and a dupe (which is actually larger than the FL mini and looks more like the full size FL), I can only speak to my personal experience when I say they feel exactly the same and give the same results.  My dupe actually has a pause every 15 seconds to let the user know it's time to move to another area of the face.  My genuine FL mini never did that. Contrary to your statement that higher speeds are missing and the cheaper versions never tell how many vibrations per minute, that's not true.  The one I bought did not state it when I bought it so I guess maybe I got lucky, but there are others on Amazon that do note the vibration frequency and they're right in the range of the Foreo Luna and the POP Leaf.  That said, vibration frequency would also be affected by lowering or increasing the speed.

A skin care specialist I knew years ago told me to just use a $6.00 facial exfoliation brush you can get at any drugstore, and exfoliate no more than once per week.  I have been doing that, and my skin is in excellent condition.  I now see a dermatologist for routine skin checks, and she concurs - she says all these expensive exfoliation devices are not necessary, and said that most women also use them too often (no more than 1-2 times per week)!

@islandergirl  When I saw the Leaf demo last night, Shawn used the word exfoliation.  I don't know if she was ad libbing or if she got that from someone at POP.  IMO the silicone cleansing brushes do not exfolitate, they are cleansing tools.  That said, the guy from Clarisonic always call is a cleansing tool, but since it has a brush I would think it does some degree of exfoliation.

Thanks for posting this.  I have the professional Luna and can never remember exactly how to use the other side.

Looks like the Q is re-debuting the Popsonic Leaf. I remain confused about how they could duplicate the design of the Foreo Luna without trademark violations? Oh, well.

The question is, can we find a difference between the two? Foreo Luna mini, $99 (8,000 pulsations):

Popsonic Leaf, now TSV at $79.96 (regular $99):

Love to hear from others?

I'm a light touch gal. But I have fair skin, so broken capillaries show up easily. The Clarisonic brush is just too rough for some of us. Numerous internet reviews. Several dermatologist blogs explaining why those brush heads are harder on your skin than silicone. (Several also saying that with middle-aged skin++ peels should never be more than once a week.)

Wishing you well on the routine that works for you!!

I found the clarisonic too rough for my skin too. Also, it was messy to use (water spray) and cleaning and changing the brush was a pain. My final complaint: I got so sick of seeing it and its incarnations on Q that it made me want to scream. Overkill. LOL. I have a dupe for foreo and it works well.

@Mothercat and @Texasmouse  The exact one I have doesn't seem to be available right now, but  by doing a search on Amazon for a Sonic Cleansing Tool, Silicone Cleansing Tool, or Silicone Cleansing Brush, several options will come up.  Some will be round, some will be pointed, some will have a waved shape.  I'm sure they're all similar in the way they work, for the most part.  Just pick the shape you like. The two biggest things you want to pay attention to is if they have adjustable speeds and if they are rechargeable (it's a USB charger).  There are some out there that need batteries so watch out for that. In addition to being a cleansing too, you can also use a smoother area of the tool to massage your skincare products into your skin.
