Love nail polish but always disappointed.

I love nail polish in the bottle. But it seems like every polish that I apply always is a disappointment on the nails. This happens for a series of reasons including the color not looking as good on my hand as it does in the bottle, poor application, quick chipping or smudging.

Am I alone in this thought?
