Help- my hair color came out too DARK. What now??

Hi everyone, Well. I'm a dope. I decided I was sick of my ombré highlights and decided to go back to my base color of a neutral medium brown. I used a semipermanent at home color and now my hair is very dark,dark brown where I had my highlights. The rest of my hair is just a shade lighter. I feel so dumb for trying to save money, but I just didn't have the extra 75.00 plus tip that my stylist charges ( and really, I didn't care for her ombré job either) . Anyway, I did this about a week ago and it's not really fading anymore after washing it with a sulfate shampoo....what can I do now to lighten it up to a medium golden brown? I really don't want to damage my hair any further, but this color has got to go! Any ideas??
