Help!!! Whats a good face cream for past acne marks/dark spots???

I have seen many out there, but Im lost as to what works best and isn't $100...Ive seen high doses of vitamin C as a lightening agent and I've seen Hydroquinone used also...I want to say that the vitamin C would be less abrasive to my somewhat sensitive skin, but would that mean it's less effective?? Any thoughts? Has anybody used a product that faded darks spots and/or past acne marks? Help!!
