Extremely dry nails

Does anyone have any suggestions for helping my extremely dry nails? They shred and snag and have to be cut the second they grow out beyond the "quick" the tiniest bit. I've tried all the different products you apply and nothing seems to help. I'm 63 and have very dry skin as well. I take vitamins and eat a healthy diet but I do have thyroid issues which probably contribute and take lots of different medications.

If anyone has an idea of something else to try, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!
