Oshare-girl - Glad to hear it passed without impacting you!

My Chicago trip is already over! It was the fastest week ever. Why oh why does 5 days of vacation fly by but 5 days at work feels like 10 if not more? LOL. Chicago really impressed me with their stellar museums - Art Institute was amazing!!!! I sort of went overboard....was there when they opened at 1030am and didn't leave until 730pm!! But I fully enjoyed seeing my favorite Monet!!! The Field Museum was also great and the Shedd Aquarium....Lincoln Park Zoo was fun....the food was awesome! Glad I brought my stretchy shorts LOL. I logged over 20,000 steps each day since I was walking everywhere so I think it helped even out the calories consumed Smiley LOL It was perfect walking weather too. After debating for a long time if I was going to go or not, super glad that I did! I would go back!

Compacting skills surprisingly were used on the trip! I've always had the habit of buying a tshirt each vacation so I have tons of them that are sitting in my closet not used. With that fresh in my mind, I didn't buy a tshirt this trip! I did buy a cute Christmas tree ornament that is a tradition for me. I LOVE putting up my tree each year and getting to go down memory lane while putting up the ornaments. I know I will enjoy the ornament for years to come unlike a tshirt that would have added to that collection.

I'm not flogging...just confessing....ISOMERS got me. But, I was very good and stuck to the items I knew I was waiting for - the Vitamin C-Stem. I did buy multiples of the kit but my thought process is this should last me several months if not a year which means I'm all set for C items which will cancel out temptation to try another line. I didn't get drawn into trying a lot of other stuff because of stellar deals and combos, so overall, I call it a win.

Hearing about Brenda810's job hunt made me think, wouldn't it be awesome if I could Compact myself out of the need to work outside of the home?  I would love to be a stay-at-home mom.

This sounds like something worth investigating.  There's something to be said about home.  I've been checking on the barn owls and now that the kids are gone, guess who's decided to come home?

I'd kill for an Italian beef sandwich.  I'd love to see Chicago one more time before I croak.  It's my kind of town.  Wouldn't mind seeing the Cubs at Wrigley again before it disappears.  Haven't walked around Chicago since 1972.  (Gee, I'm old.)
People who live in our larger cities really need to take advantage of the museums, libraries, zoos, aquariums, parks... Once you move away, you'll discover how much you miss having access to the things you took for granted.

Hey bee,  just last week DH and I went to the Biopark.  Parked at the zoo, toured that.  Took the train to the aquarium and botanical garden.  Took the train back. On the way home we pulled into Tingley beach and just looked around.  A lot of fishing there but no one was in a paddle boat.  Was a fun day.

Big week for the zoo.  Cosmo the lion passed away (lymphoma) and a giraffe was born.  (Could have skipped Tingley Beach.)  Where are you going next?

Have you checked out the new season at Popejoy?

Well bee, today we got our dog registered at the Animal Welfare place.  Then we went to the Balloon Museum.  Expecting my brother's girlfriend in for 10 days starting Thursday.  She will stay at her Mom's or friends home-not sure.  We will go to Sandia Casino on Sunday and during the next week she is showing me how to do the "whole green chili thing."   Have got to find work soon. DH getting very antsy-not too worried, but concerned.  I don't think we will do too much more until we start working.

How is everyone doing on their August goals? I almost broke my biggest goal of no buying body creams/shower gels etc. Perlier had their big visit yesterday on HSN. I did put items into the shopping cart. This is the line that first started my tv shopping habit! The products work great on my skin plus I have loved the scents....Skip and Amanda are a hoot to watch too! I deleted the items in the cart. Closed my laptop and shut off the tv. I didn't make any Perlier purchases!!!! This was MAJOR accomplishment for me. Previously, it would be guaranteed that I would have a huge box arriving soon after their visit. The thing that helped was knowing that I have a bunch of Korres body butters to use up and those containers take FOREVER to use up! Plus, I think some of the Korres scents are becoming my favorites over Perlier? never thought that would happen.

Oh, so far so good, however, I cannot say it has been easy.  There have been so many great deals, and my stash is proof of how much I love a great deal.  I am being mindful which has helped me immensely.  I went shopping the other day, and found a great deal in the garden clearance, but only picked up what I really needed and I did not have to bring home 3 or 4 of them--progress.  I am so indebted to all of the posters on this forum.  I have learned so much from what you all struggle with, and it really helps to know I am not alone, and who else would really understand my stash?  One day at a time...Thanks.  Happy Birthday, also, to all of your August birthdays.

Re: ComPact 2015 -- August

[ Edited ]

My August goals are going well.  I thought for sure I was going to breakdown when Isomers was on but I resisted and didnt buy a thing.  I thought about everything I need to get through and my ultimate goal in getting down to a simple routine and I held out. It helps to remember all that you have and I am happy I didnt add to it.  Relieved, honestly.

Laura Geller was having a sale and I wanted to try the Baked Elements foundation.  I could have gotten it for about 17 bucks which is a good deal. However, free shipping was offered for 50 and over and I didnt want to spend 50 bucks in things I didnt need so I ditched the order.  This is one case where shipping helped me out.  And I wasnt going to pay 8 bucks for them to ship a compact.

I still go running to look at palettes but no way can I allow myself to buy any.  I dont even use what I have.

I do need to make a plan to start using my mu and getting through some things or, at least, just using them.  I need to allow myself more time in the morning. I actually do enjoy putting it on.

It is difficult though. There are so many things I have to talk myself out of and it is tiring.

I hope everyone is doing well.
