Clinique's Mild Clarifying Lotion Has Been Discontinued!

[ Edited ]

I was running out, so I went to get some from QVC when they had the Easy Pay offer the other day. It wasn't there, but I figured they might get it back in stock or not, because it's one of the beauty lines the Q doesn't seem to promote anymore. The Clinique website wasn't carrying it, which I thought was odd. I went to Sephora, and they were out of stock. I looked at the reviews and the newest one from May said the Mild Clarifying Lotion had been discontinued, and been replaced by Clarifying Lotion 1.0, which has Witch Hazel and less salicylic acid than the original Mild. I ended up finding some, backordered 2 weeks, at Macy's.

I wish Clinique hadn't messed with it. Paula Begoun had stated in her Mild formula review that it could use more salicylic acid to be beneficial, and she gives Witch Hazel a poor rating in her Ingredient Dictionary for being a known skin irritant. Which I guess in an improvement over alcohol and certainly the acetone (nail polish remover!) Clinique used to put in formulas 2-4. Still, I will use my Mild up, and put Clinique toners in my rearview mirror.

I dislike when a company discontinues a product I like, and it happens often.

Have you tried any of Paula's products with salicyclic acid?

Yes, I use her 1% BHA Lotion every other day, and have alternated it with the Mild Clarifying Lotion for about 3 years now. About every 2 weeks, or if some special occasion is coming up, I will use Paula's 2% BHA Lotion. I get the 2% in the 3 free sample packs you always get when you order from her site. Since I order stuff from Paula about every other month, I always have enough on hand without ordering a whole bottle I wouldn't be able to use up in a year.

It hasn't been discontinued!  It is still on the Clinique website and sold at other places too.

It isn't there now, it has been replaced by the Clarifying Lotion 1.0, which is an entirely different formula. I even did a search at the top of the Clinique website, and I'm not coming up with it. I have searched most of the mjor department stores, Sephora, Ulta, Beauty.com, etc., but nada. If you know where I can find the Original Mild Clarifying Lotion, please, let me know. I have my credit card ready, because I'm gonna stock up.

The Cosmetic Company Store is the retail outlet for Estee Lauder-owned lines (like Clinique). These stores are found in many outlet malls (like Kittery, ME, Wrentham, MA and Foxwoods Casino, CT, to name three in my area). They sell a lot of discontinued products as well as current ones at slightly reduced prices. It would be worth checking if you have one nearby. Good Luck!

Thanks! I will check out the one in Wrentham, MA after Labor Day, when the bridge traffic off Cape Cod is not such a mess. My son goes to Wheaton and is just a few exits from it, so we'll do a Saturday excursion after he's settled in school. We love eating at Cracker Barrel, and I want to check out the new Elizabeth Arden outlet, too.

I just went to the Clinique website and they are selling both the mild and the 1.0. I got the impression that the 1.0 is for all skin types, but they are still offering the other three types. It is available right now on Clinique website.

I searched the Clinique website just now, even put "Mild Clarifying Lotion" in their search and came up with nothing! It's simply NOT there. Please, give me the EXACT links you clicked on in order to find it.
