Re: Anyone have luck with a firming product?

was the procedure called laser tighting? or is there some other name for it like thermage

@rockydog1,

I had laser skin tightening with the Yag laser. This one is used for mid to mild laxity.

Thermage is not laser, it's radiofrequency.

It did not hurt at all, thanks to the numbing cream. I had series of treatments, 4 altogether, spaced one month apart. Each time my skin was very red, like a bad sunburn, and faded completely in a few days. There's no down time really. Just put on your makeup and go. I just hated the trip home AFTER each session...bright red face!...LOL!Woman LOL

@SilleeMee First off - big thanks for sharing all the infomation that you did. I looked into having a tightening procedure about a year ago but as yet haven't.

I don't think it was with the YAG; I think it was Thermage (one treatment is all they claim is required).

Question for you: Did you have to take any prescription painkillers? The office I went to insisted that I'd have to get some pretty heavy duty pills.

@sandraskates,

No, no painkillers. They numbed me pretty good though at the office prior to treatment. My whole head felt numb!Woman LOL

About Thermage...that procedure is radiofrequency based. I never had it done. It targets the underlying structures like muscle whereas lasers target the skin. Some people do both. Thermage is supposed to be painless from what I've read...?

Re: Anyone have luck with a firming product?

@SilleeMee - I tossed out all the paperwork so I don't recall the details.

But whereas you had 4 treatments, I would only have had one. But I don't like taking painkillers - they make me woozy and uncomfortable. I'd rather "tough it out."

Perhaps I'll try another derm and check into the YAG. It was great to have your first-hand account. :-)

You know @Tinkrbl44, I am happily retired and once thought why have any procedure done..? For what reason? I'm not competing for a job anymore. I did this laser thing because I found it so difficult to look at myself in the mirror everyday and see what I had done to myself with the years of self-destructing abuse...bad choices in life I made had taken a toll on me and it really showed on my face. After I came clean and began a healthy lifestyle, I decided to turn back the clock. I truly believe that If I had been clean in the beginning, I would probably not have gotten so old-looking so fast.

@I have always ALWAYS looked older than my CA, @SilleeMee, and I also had terrible health habits for years and years.

When I fnally found out how to improve my health, part of the package was losing 80+ pounds.

My skin now hangs everywhere. I look probably 5-10 years older than I actually am. Would I rather regain the weight to look a couple years younger, while still looking older than my CA anyway? NOPE!

@SilleeMee - I am in Colorado and would love to know where you had your procedure done, if you are willing to share.  Also, do you remember the name of your doctor if there is more than one where you went?  Thanks!

@violann or anyone else: For the life of me, I can't figure out what CA stands for here. Help me. :-)

@LilMiss,

As much as I would like to give you specifics, I will only say that it was done at a laser clinic in Colorado. I don't feel comfortable giving any more than that. Hope you understand.Woman Happy
