32oz price vs. duo price?

Okay, so I have what may seem like a dumb question, but am gonna ask it anyways. Why does it cost $49.50 to buy a 32oz cleansing conditioner, but only $39.90 for a duo, which also has total of 32oz. I know that it is one formulation vs. two, but what gives?
