I have a beautiful niece who has very dark brown hair and the darkest brown eyes I have ever seen. She is one of those people who is just so stunning that people just stare at her. Oh my goodness - those eyes!

I have a friend that always says she has green eyes but to anyone else ... they are brown. True green eyes are rare. I think a lot of people think they have green eyes, but really don't.
Isn't it amazing that some people actually don't know what color their eyes are ? How odd is that? I think many people who actually have hazel think they have green eyes. Truely green eyes are unmistakable - they aren't somewhat green, or green with some brown or any of the things people say . They are green - unmistakeable green color. My eyes are almost exactly the same color as the gemstone Adventurine. Definitely and absolutely GREEN - they aren't greenish - they aren't mixed in with brown or gold. When we lived in Pitts. my eye doctor was a young woman , and she would always tell me the color of my eyes blew her away. I am a green eyed natural redhead - I am no great beauty but my coloring was always my best feature.
Because they are rare, people want to have green - even if they don't. The eye doctor commented on mine as well and we had this conversation. He said that they rarely see true green but many people like to claim green eyes. People with true green eyes have super light sensitivity - I know I sure do. Oddly my eyes were blue until I was about eight and then they switched over. And the exact same thing happened with my daughter. She was blue-eyed until age 8 or nine and then hers went green as well. I still have a blue outer ring.

My Dad had very dark blue eyes and my green eyes have his dark blue around the outer edge. I think it makes the green even stand out more. I believe many people who have green eyes do have that outer dark ring.

mine used to be a medium brown--now they are hazel. Had chemo 5 years ago and my eye color changed---weird, right?

army green (green with brown flecks)...mixture of mom's brown and dad's lighter green eyes.

@151949 Probably because nobody is born with green eyes - they develop. And those of us with that ring started out blue. Those that start out brown, probably go hazel.

My eyes are the color of the ocean. No one can definitively say whether they're blue, green or grey. They seem to be a mixture of all three. My sons' father has blue eyes and three of my four sons also have blue eyes but the oldest has grey/green eyes, like an army green.

My eyes were always the same color as far as I know. My mom never said they were any other color when I was a baby.

My eyes are blue.
They aren't hazel but sometimes they change hue and look grayish, and once in a while they look green.

Blue, but I always wanted them to be brown like my mother's. I've always heard that brown is dominant over blue. Like I said, my mother had brown eyes and my dad had hazel, but his parents both had brown. You would think the odds were that I would have gotten the brown eyes.
