What Are Old Musicians You've Gone To See?

[ Edited ]

I went with a GF to see Cher.  She had Cindy Lauper (ugh) with her.

DH and I went to see the Eagles.  Unfortunately, Randy had retired earlier.

There goes my crush!!!!

Forgot that our university brought in Kenny Rogers so much we thought we'd loose their minds.

I've also seen Barbara Mandrell.

Years ago we saw Paul Anka in concert as well as the French crooner, Charles Aznavour.

Don't think I could tolerate the crowds now....and the prices are ridiculous.

Many years ago (emphasizing many) I saw Hart and Fleetwood Mac in NYC.

They used to have "Live Stage Shows" at a local theatre in our city where all 3 of my older sisters worked. I saw:

1) Glenn Miller Band

2) Harry James Band

3) Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey Bands

4) Shep Fields Orchestra (my brother-in-law played trumpet)

5) Lawrence Welk

6) Desi Arnaz

7) Mills Brothers

just to name a few of what I consider "old musicians).

Younger than that?  Will leave that for what I consider to be "young musicians" thread question.

Great thread!

I've been to many, mostly in the 60s and 70s, and it's a varied list!

The Carpenters, Fifth Dimension, John Denver, Peter Framptom, Frank Zappa, Queen, Jefferson Starship, Heart, Boston, James Taylor (Carly came out at the end and they sang Mocking Bird), Crosby, Stiils, Nash, and Young, ZZ Top.  I might have forgotten a few. My husband went to see Pink Floyd but I stayed home. It was outdoors and pretty wild.

I wish I could have seen Elvis and, of course, the Beatles. I can't wait to see other comments.

Edited to add:  @hckynut, I love Glenn Miller. I have been to a couple of big band concerts and saw the Glenn Miller band a few years ago. The originals must have been amazing!

Went to see Peter Cetera in September.  72 and still gorgeous, blue eyes and now full head of grey hair.  Great band and he sings beautifully.   A mix of his songs and the ones he sang with Chicago.  Recommend.   It was fun to drool !

Also saw Paul McCartney at Dodger Stadium the summer before last.  He put on a 3 hour show-never stopping.  Amazing.

Re: What Are Old Musicians You've Gone To See?

I have seen the Osmonds in concert so many times I lost count.

Ronnie Milsap

The Oak Ridge Boys

Michael Jackson

Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton

Barry Manilow

Prince

Air Supply

Kiss

Van Halen

David Lee Roth

Cindy Lauper (sp)

Rick Springfield

The B52's

Aerosmith

Christina Agulera (sp?)

NSync

Backstreet Boys

I am sure there are quite a few more, my husband worked at an arena and was able to get discounted tickets, that was years ago, now I have no desire to go see anybody but the Osmonds!

I saw Chicago at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last year- Peter wasn't with them. He was the  missing part of the puzzle! The vocals were so off, it was a shame.

I've seen sooooo many people, concerts are a favorite thing of mine. Of older musicians- Paul Mc Cartney, The Who, The Eagles,  Don Henley, Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Cat Stevens (Yusef), ELO, Tony Bennett, CSN&Y, James Taylor, Billy Joel MANY times!!! I saw Blood Sweat and Tears (with Bo Bice!)  - plus Andrea Bocelli- last month. I could go on & on!
