Wednesday's Positive Pals and Grateful Gals

[ Edited ]

Hello my friends!  Thank you all so much for all your posts and so glad you liked the story about Carl.  We just got home not long ago, got our supper eaten, prayers finished, my PT
exercises done and now I'm here for you all, but with no time to write any responses on the last thread, but to just say Thank You and I gave you all hearts!  Hope you understand!  Okey - it was a nice day with the twins, they are so sweet.  A concern though is little Alyssa (Allie) hasn't had a BM in 3 days!  I thought maybe it could be a side effect of her baby Zantac, don't know that for sure, Darla says she's on that for a month already though, Greg called the nurse who suggested getting some apple juice - the girls are only on breast milk, with some medicine for acid refex in it twice a day for Allie, but not today, she seemed fine, not in pain, but they didn't giver her any medicine today.  Greg bought some applejuce, but a big bottle of it, 100% apple juice, but not baby apple juice, guess he didn't know.  I didn't see that, but Linus did.  I just pray she'll be alright.  Please say a prayer that she can have those normally again.  I am feeling much better, one more day of the antibiotics and I'm finished with them.

Here's a story I picked out for tonight:

One stormy night many years ago, an elderly man and
his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in
Philadelphia. Trying to get out of the rain, the
couple approached the front desk hoping to get some
shelter for the night.

"Could you possibly give us a room here?" the husband
asked. The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile,
looked at the couple and explained that there were
three conventions in town.

"All of our rooms are taken," the clerk said. "But I
can't send a nice couple like you out into the rain at
one o'clock in the morning. Would you perhaps be
willing to sleep in my room? It's not exactly a
suite, but it will be good enough to make you folks
comfortable for the night."

When the couple declined, the young man pressed on.
"Don't worry about me; I'll make out just fine," the
clerk told them. So the couple agreed.

As he paid his bill the next morning, the elderly man
said to the clerk, "You are the kind of manager who
should be the boss of the best hotel in the United
States. Maybe someday I'll build one for you."

The clerk looked at them and smiled. The three of
them had a good laugh.

As they drove away, the elderly couple agreed that
the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding
people who are both friendly and helpful isn't easy.

Two years passed. The clerk had almost forgotten the
incident when he received a letter from the old man.
It recalled that stormy night and enclosed a
round-trip ticket to New York, asking the young man to
pay them a visit.

The old man met him in New York, and led him to the
corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. He then
pointed to a great new building there, a palace of
reddish stone, with turrets and watchtowers thrusting
up to the sky.

"That," said the older man, "is the hotel I have just
built for you to manage."

"You must be joking," the young man said.

"I can assure you I am not," said the older man, a sly
smile playing around his mouth.

The older man's name was William Waldorf Astor, and
the magnificent structure was the original
Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

The young clerk who became its first manager was
George C. Boldt. This young clerk never foresaw the
turn of events that would lead him to become the
manager of one of the world's most glamorous hotels.

Re: Wednesday's Positive Pals and Grateful Gals

Hello gloriajean...

What a beautiful story.

I always try to give what I can at our community shelters for the homeless.

I tell my hysband, "What if some of them the homeless, were actual "Angels"?  Sent here to earth, keeping an eye on us and looking to see who is kind and who truly cares and gives from their heart"?

Everything here on"Earth" I believe is a "TEST"?  For everything we do, every action has a reaction.  I truly believe, what we do and how we do it...Will later come back to us in our next life...?

Blessings, have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hugs!

@gloriajean  There is no difference between baby apple juice and regular apple juice.

I used regular apple juice- 100% juice with no added sugar mixed 1/2 juice with1/2 sterilized water.

The baby juice is just watered down.

Of course, please check with the pedicatrician for the twins; this is just my experience with my pediatrician years ago.

Re: Wednesday's Positive Pals and Grateful Gals

Hello Gloria..

Although I don't post here, I do read when I can. Saw your  post about the twins and Allie's situation.  I feel badly, as I know she has been having continued digestive problems.

My son was exactly the same when he was an infant...(he's 27 now). He had horrible colic (gas), constipation, etc. He took gas medicine in his bottle (Infant Mylanta drops..with simethocone), and also had to use a prescription liquid stool softener daily (Kondrumul) which I believe helped. Unfortunately, it was discontinued, and then they changed it and had me add an oil to the formula ( I think it was mineral oil, but don't remember excactly). The two combined seemed to help significantlly.

My concern is the apple juice?  Apple juice is gassy!  I know the pediatricians always recommend it, but I feel it can cause more distress.  I'm wondering why not pear juice or prune juice (watered down).  Maybe Darla can call and ask about that as well as some type of drop to add to keep her regular.

Also, I'm from the "old school" here,..lol... but I feel they should consider starting a very watered down cereal added to the breast milk.  When you don't have any "solid food" in your belly, gas gets worse in general.  I understand her concern about food allergies, but maybe she could consider an organic baby rice cereal ..very diluted and see if she feels better....or even some watered down baby food...like an organic vegetable or fruit puree....

Good luck with your thread...It's a beautiful one!! (so was Positive)!!!...Hope this new one stands the test of time..I know there have been many problems keeping it alive....

And, I hope Allie feels better soon....
