The further you go, the farther away you will be?  Smiley Happy   That just came to mind, reading your post.

Re: STOP! Grammar Time...

[ Edited ]

"Farther" versus "further" can be confusing. Here's a tip to keep them straight: "Farther" is physical distance; the first three letters are "Far." (That helps to remember.)  "The bad weather is farther away," or "Drive farther down the road."

We can discuss this further if you'd like (heh heh).  Smiley Happy

Wow! I'm back in 7th grade and 8th grade. The blackboard and chalk. Sister Mary Frances and Sister Mary Paul -- the founding "sisters" of the Grammar Police -- holding their pointers and guiding us through predicate nominatives and indirect objects. Smiley Surprised Sooo many years ago!

Ms Lomo:  Thank you!  Very easy to remember!

Well, I guess I'm a closet member of the grammar police because I would never correct someone's post, but my eyes just burn when I see an error. The one that really makes me crazy is "voila!"  Every time I see someone write "wahla" or "wa-la" or "wah-lah" I cringe. It's not even phonetically correct, because there is a v sound at the beginning, not a w sound!  Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, lol. Carry on!

@shoesnbags- I've also seen them say "viola" instead of "voila".

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

How about the incorrect use of "lose" and "loose"?  I see those used incorrectly a lot.
