You're not the only one who thinks Ryan Gosling is a real dud.  I'm surprised Eva Mendes would even go out on a date with him .... much less, have a child with him!  ugh

Jon is someone who wants to get rich quick with minimal amount of work.  He was the one who convinced Kate to do the original special.  He's never had a real job since the job he had that had something to do with IT when the show first started.  

And then he started working from home for a friend of theirs.  His office was in their bedroom closet.  He could make his own hours so he could help with the kids.

When they separated, he copped an attitude with producers of the show.  I know there were issues with him wearing t-shirts with advertising or something and the show eventually cut him off and wouldn't allow him on the show or pay him.

He has had various odd jobs since.

He is unemployable other than as a joke or to draw curiosity seekers.

April 1 makes sense that this is a high quality joke.  He's probably getting paid for it, too.

Where is Jon's family?  Why isn't he living with them?  Why aren't they coming to his rescue?

I figure somewhere he's someones type and that person will go see him in the show. It just seems a lot  of young males really don't want to work at manual labor kind of jobs anymore. I respect some one who does a hard days work.

His children have already been so screwed up by their shrew of a mother. Nothing Jon could do comes close. Plus he's not even allowed by that witch to see them.

He worked in IT in the beginning of her reign of terror. I wonder why he doesn't go back to that. 

I think K/Hate did such a number on him and he is damaged. I know he is an adult but some people just don't bounce back.
