Over 1000 people showed up at a funeral in Indianapolis today for a marine vet that died in a nursing home with no known family, people who had never met him. I just think that speaks highly that there are really kind people in this world.

I wonder how many people cared enough to visit him while he was alive?

Someone knew the man and passed along the information of his passing. If people just heard about this Vet and just showed up out of respect that speaks volumes.

I believe the local marine corp gave the information to the local news because they wanted other marines to show up - they actually had to move to a bigger venue because so many people showed up. He was pretty old, so I don't think he had any friends or family left.

You know, that entered my mind too, he was in a nursing home and had no living family or friends, so probably no one. Sad.
