Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends! It's been nice having these two days off, I got a lot done today, made hamburger soup with veggies I had in the fridge, I'll bring some to Darla's tomorrow.  She's vegetarian but her husband isn't, also have some veg. foods to bring her too.  My cousin and classmate, Shirley, plans on coming tomorrow to help me, thought the hamburger soup would be good to have. Also I talked to Darla's third grade teacher, Edie, and she wants to come too for a day to help her!  I was her teacher's aid when she taught third grade, I think I was for ten years!  She's a honey! Retired and willing to help out!  She was Darla's favorite teacher, I think Lori's too.  Other than the soup, I made us a chicken dinner too, and shredding cabbage, breaking apart cauliflower etc. all takes time, no time for a nap, so I'll just go to bed early.

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y 

I know that God cannot teach anyone who is trusting in a "crutch."  I can
throw away the worldly things I have come to depend upon and walk in God's
power and spirit.  God's power can so invigorate me that I can indeed walk
on to victory.  There is never any limit go God's power.  I can go step by
step, one day at a time.  God's will can be revealed to me as I go forward.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y 

I pray that I may have more and more dependence on God.  I pray that I may
throw away the "crutches" I sometimes rely upon and let God's power take
their place.

THE MASTER'S HAND

Wishing to encourage her young son's progress on the piano, a mother
took the small boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated,
the mother spotted a friend in the audience and walked down the aisle
to greet her. Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the
concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually explored his way
through a door marked "NO ADMITTANCE."

When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the
mother returned to her seat and discovered that her son was missing.
Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive
Steinway on stage. In horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at
the keyboard, innocently picking out "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."
At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly
moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's ear, "Don't quit, keep
playing."

Then leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and
began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the
other side of the child and he added a running obligatio. Together,
the old master and the young novice transformed a frightening
situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was
mesmerized.

That's the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is
hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren't exactly
graceful flowing music. But with the hand of the Master, our life's
work truly can be beautiful. Next time you set out to accomplish great
feats, listen carefully. You can hear the voice of the Master,
whispering in your ear, "Don't quit, keep playing." Feel His loving
arms around you. Know that His strong hands are playing the concerto
of your life. Remember, God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the
called.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIFE

1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
2. Memorize your favorite poem.
3. Don't believe all you hear.
4. Don't spend all you have.
5. Don't sleep all you want.
6. When you say, "I love you", mean it.
7. When you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
8. Be engaged at least 6 months before you get married.
9. Believe in love at first sight.
10. Never laugh at anyone's dreams.
11. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
12. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

20. Remember the 3 r's: respect for self; respect for others; responsibility for all your actions.
21. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
22. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
23. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
24. Marry a person you love to talk to. As you grow older, his or her conversational skills will be as important as any other.
25. Spend some time alone.
26. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
27. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
28. Read more books and watch less tv.
29. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll get to enjoy it a second time.
30. Trust in God but lock your car.
31. A loving atmosphere in your home is so important. Do all you can to create a tranquil, harmonious home.
32. In disagreements with loved ones, deal with a current situation. Don't bring up the past.
33. Read between the lines.
34. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
35. Be gentle with the earth.
36. PRAY. There's immeasurable power in it.
37. Never interrupt when you are being flattered. Say, "thank you".
38. Mind your own business.
39. Don't trust a person who doesn't close his or her eyes when you kiss them.
40. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
41. If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. That is wealth's greatest satisfaction.
42. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of luck.
43. Learn the rules, then break some.
44. Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other.

August 23 - Jesus Calling

Entrust your loved ones to Me; release them into My protective care. They are much safer with Me than in your clinging hands. If you let a loved one become an idol in your heart, you endanger that one—as well as yourself. Remember the extreme measures I used with Abraham and Isaac. I took Isaac to the very point of death to free Abraham from sonworship. Both Abraham and Isaac suffered terribly because of the father’s undisciplined emotions. I detest idolatry, even in the form of parental love.

When you release loved ones to Me, you are free to cling to My hand. As you entrust others into My care, I am free to shower blessings on them. My Presence will go with them wherever they go, and I will give them rest. This same Presence stays with you, as you relax and place your trust in Me. Watch to see what I will do.

Glad to hear you got some rest, Gloria and I hope all goes well with the twins.on

Wednesday.

 

As far as my Sciatica what can I say I'm still in pain not as severe but still there.

I will be seeing my Chiropractor on Wednesday evening, he got rid of this before and maybe he can help me again.

TAke care of yourself Harlene and get some rest. I will say an extra prayer for you today.  

Gloriajean, now that school has begun I will work at the museum 2 Saturdays a month and some days during school vacations.  Cannot give up being there, just love it so much!

Kids arrive today, classes begin and we will be off and running.  My schedule feels good and cannot wait to meet the kids. I am mostly with 7th graders so all that newness, trepidation and shere energy will be amazing.  I am anxious but mostly because we have a new format for the schedule and it is confusing us all.  I pray God walks with us all these next few days!

Well, many blessings for everyone and a day filled with joy and peace.  Enjoy all the ordinary miracles that cross your day.

@gloriajean, extra good thread today. And I love to read about your day, too.  I love hamburger soup!

 

@lovestopaint, I've had occasional sciatic problems over the years--not as bad as yours--but it was the chiropractor who always helped the most. I sure hope that with the shots and chiropractor visit you get some relief!

 

@nj, May those changes in schedule end up being a good thing. Some people don't realize all the changes schools and teachers keep trying in order to improve learning for the students.  Teaching has become more of a challenge over the years at all grades. Prayers for you!

Ruby, you are so right about changes and keeping up with technology and I sometimes wonder if it really makes a big difference.  Good teacher is good teacher regardless but in this time, getting and keeping students attention is always the challenge.  Good day but I am beat!

Hello all - Harlene - I'm praying that the chiropractor can help you get rid of all that pain. They can do wonders, that I know.

Good luck with the teaching, Nancy, and keeping up with the museum. Keeps you busy!  

Ruby - so glad you like what I post.  Sometimes I wonder how it's received.

If I missed anyone, sorry. I don't know how to write to all of you in one reply like Ruby can do it.  The other way takes so long.
