I color my hair at home and have Wen oils, remoist and cleansing conditioners including 613. What would be best right after coloring? Thanks!!!

613 and the oil. I just colored mine on last Sunday. I deep conditioned and didn't cleanse again until Wednesday and deep conditioned. I've been home all weekend piddling around the house, so I've pony tailed it all and will cleanse again tonight. I have brushed every night with a boar bristle brush to pull the scalp oils down the hair. It is driving me nuts that it is so oily, but I know I need to let the oils nourish it. I usually try to cleanse every three days for the first week of color. Then I go back to normal cleanings every other day.

Thanks Tigriss! I am coloring tonight but have to work in the morning so I think I will end up doing a remoist this time. I will cleanse first with 613. I will wait a couple of days to cleanse again so I will use the oils then. I usually color my hair when I have more time off. In the future I will so I can use the oils.

Many people will say to do a deep conditioning treatment a few days before you color and color dirty/two or so day old hair, so that your oils are there to protect the hair and scalp. Cleansing/rinsing with WEN or other CC is better than those tubes they put in the boxes. It just works better for me, so I have tons of those tubes for travel for hair or shaving.

I put oil on my scalp before coloring, long enough ahead of time to let it soak in a little. I feel this protects my scalp from the chemicals. Some put oil in the color to add some conditioning to it. When I used box color I always used WEN after instead of the conditioner in the box - leaves your hair in much better shape. When I use professional color which is supposed to be shampooed out, I use WEN as well. In both cases, I immediately put Remoist on, overnight if possible, with no loss of color.

Thank you all! I colored my hair last night and cleansed with 613 and BGT. I did a remoist overnight and my hair is bouncy and shiny today!!! I will use the oils tomorrow night.

Oils are very important after you have stripped them out with ammonia. I find the ammonia free hair dyes don't take to my hair as well, so I just use the old fashioned kind and leave it on with a hair cap for 10 minutes longer than recommended. This takes years of practice to know how long to leave it on before issues happen. This all helps to address some of the damage you just did.

Hilary's Benefits of Oils thread helps outline the different properties that the various oils have. Best of luck!!!
