I've been using Wen for a couple of years now and I'm thinking of quitting. On the second day, my scalp is oily and my ends are super dry. My daughter persuaded me to use her shampoo and conditioner and I was stunned at how good my hair still felt the second day.
Does anyone else experience this? I'm wondering why my ends would be so dry. I didn't experience this when I was using traditional shampoo and conditioner. I have long, straight, fine hair and I let it dry naturally.

That sounds frustrating
It is definitely not my experience...I use primarily Fig for my super dry hair and I only have to cleanse 2x per week. Has this always been the case or is it something you're just noticing recently? I agree that a different formula might be helpful (CA in particular is designed for oily scalp/dry hair), or even using one formula (TT/CA/even your regular shampoo) on your scalp and a moisturizing formula on your length and ends. Do you use any CC as a leave-in on your ends? Oil treatments might also be helpful for you.

I agree with the others. That's only happened to me when I used the wrong formula for my hair needs. Even when I used shampoo and conditioner, I had to use the moisturizing/hydrating formulas and when I did Conditioner Only washing before WEN, I had to use a separate hydrating conditioner after my cleansing conditioner. Most of the WEN "universal" formulas do not work for me and Cucumber Aloe really leaves me dry.
I use Fig on my fine hair and it's the only one that really gives me enough moisture. I make sure to use one pump as a leave-in, too. I also use the oil treatments on my scalp when I remember. I only wash my hair every 2-3 days and don't have dry ends or an oily scalp.
If you're getting an oily scalp, you should also check to see if you're using the right number of pumps for your hair length. Because WEN doesn't have the strong surfactants of a shampoo, you need to use more and leave it on longer (that's why the second cleanse is recommended - you can also leave the first cleanse in longer) to break down the oils and get rid of them. You may want to call the number of the back of the bottle for some personalized advice.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I agree with ChynnaBlue - you may not be using enough. If you aren't using enough cleansing conditioner, no matter the formula, your scalp won't get clean and your ends won't get enough moisture - therefore an oily scalp and dry ends.
Without more details, suggestions can only be very general.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I currently use 613 as my first cleanse (I'm trying to use it up because I have so much and don't like it) and SAM, WVM, POM or GGT for my second.
I let my hair air dry and on the rare occasions that I use a clip free curling iron, I use Wen styling lotion first. I love how my hair is on the first day, but the second is when it's oily on top and dry ends. I'm pretty confident that I'm using enough, but I'll try using even more. My hair is past my waist and if I have to use much more, I may not be able to afford it! ![]()
Might it be the 613?

A lot of WEN users report that using too much 613 can dry out the hair, which seems to be what you are experiencing. I'd drop 613 for now (or only use it every fourth cleanse or so).
My personal experience with GGT (gardenia spring, right?) is that I only get one day out of that cleanse for some reason (no matter how much or little I use).
Fig and TT are the best formulas for me. I use the other formulas as body wash, face wash, etc., etc. Then I just won't purchase those formulas again.
Good luck!

There are several that say that 613 is drying because of the added protein. Also, it's a thicker formula than the other cc's and if you're using it as a first cleanse on your scalp you might not be getting it all rinsed off. When I use 613, I mix it with another cc.
Your first cleanse needs to be the formula that works best for your scalp - I would suggest of the ones you have, using SAM or POM for first cleanse. They aren't as heavy and will be easier to rinse out. Also, when you apply your cc's are you dividing it up - some for the scalp first, then mid-shaft then ends? I don't know if you are doing this, but if you apply the entire amount at once and try to distribute it, especially with your long hair, too much will get on the scalp and not enough on the ends. And adding enough water as you work it in to get it to a frothy consistency is critical to getting it rinsed out and also allows you to use less because it distributes it more evenly.
And use the styling crème even if you air dry - it seals in the moisture and keeps your hair smooth.
If you can, you definitely need to try to use the tea tree oil as a scalp treatment. It will normalize your scalp so you won't have to cleanse as often. It really makes a tremendous difference.

Tracy, okiebug given you some great suggestions.
I can't recommend the TT oil overnight scalp treatments enough. Before using the TT treatments, my scalp would turn into an oil slick inside of 18 hours. These days I can go 3-4 days between cleansings. -- It takes time to see the change though. I was doing overnight oil treatments two times per week and it took about two months for my scalp to start to balance its oil production. You really have to be consistent about doing the overnight treatments.

Oh, yeah! Does your hair feel like straw as opposed to dry?
Before I got my Wen regimen, I used 613 every cleanse and as my leave-in. After a few weeks of that, my course, curly hair was bordering on protein overload (felt like straw).
