Question about WEN Styling Products

Hi Ladies. I am a new user to WEN, just used it for the first time this weekend. I have the POM cc and the 613 cc. Used the POM for both cleanses yesterday to see how my hair would react. I have curly hair, loose ringlets. I used the POM as my leave in and used the 613 styling cream as well. My hair is nice and soft, so soft that my curls are much looser than usual. I was considering using my own curly hair styling products next time after cleansing. I have read that others who have posted have also done that. Do you find that the cc's still work just as well when using other styling products besides Chaz's? Thanks for your help! Oh, and P.S. - for those curly hair girls - are there any of Chaz's styling products that you use that you could recommend to keep my curls defined? Thanks again!!

Re: Question about WEN Styling Products

I'm sure some curly girls will answer but some of them do use only WEN products. There is a thread with some discussion here; http://community.qvc.com/forums/wen/topic/438930/tip-for-wavycurly-girls.aspx#

Re: Question about WEN Styling Products

Arianny, welcome to the Wen forum, and the wonderful world of Wen!! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I have thin/fine hair and so I don't use most of the styling products. I use CC, SC, oil, mousse & Re-Moist.

I'd suggest trying the 613 mousse. All the mousse scents have a smart-hold technology which really works. You use on wet hair after cleansing (leave-in: CC, SC, then mousse), but you can also use it on dry hair. The 613 mousse also has a new shining ingredient that adds more shine to your hair than the other scents of Wen mousse do.

I have a very delicate/fragile wave to my hair. The 613 mousse is the only product I've ever used that helps keep the wave for the first day. On the second day I do lose the wave, but my hair still has more body to it. And the mousse doesn't feel sticky in my hair.

Re: Question about WEN Styling Products

From Chaz's site, in the About Wen - Instructions For Use section...

If you have curly or ethnic hair, use WEN® Treatment Oil. When applying your leave-in, mix 2-6 drops of Treatment Oil to the Cleansing Conditioner first and then 2-6 drops of Treatment Oil to the Styling Creme. You may also need to increase the amount of Treatment Oil and pumps of the Cleansing Conditioner and Styling Creme for different hair textures.

Re: Question about WEN Styling Products

Hi Arianny,

I LOVE my WEN, but I've found that none of the styling products really worked for me. I've tried all but the 613 styling cream. The regular styling cream was basically like using nothing in my hair, so I stopped using that. The mousse added a little definition and gloss, but not a lot. The glossing serum isn't really much different than any of the others I've tried. I gave up all the styling products and went back to my curly specific styling products.

My personal favorite is Curl Keeper, by Curly Hair Solutions. It's the only thing I've ever tried (and I've tried so, SO many things) that has kept me frizz-free, even on days with 90%+ humidity. I usually use that alone, but sometimes add a pea-sized drop of gel scrunched over that if I want extra hold.

As long as you pick a styling product with no silicones or with water soluble silicones, you shouldn't have any problems with buildup. I've noticed no difference in WEN performance now vs when I used only WEN styling products. The only difference I've noticed is better hair once I moved back to curly-hair styling products.

Fig CC works best for my hair, but I often mix with Tea Tree and also use seasonals. I use 613 sparingly because my hair reacts badly to too much protein. I use several of the oils and Sweet Almond Mint Remoist, too.
