Happy Saturday, Wenners! Smile

Last night, I did an overnight Remoist treatment for the first time - I normally just leave it on a few hours on a weekend afternoon or something. So, my question is, since I left it on so much longer, should I just rinse it out, or should I follow with CC and cleanse after rinsing it out?

TIA!

Re: Remoist - Quick Question!

I agree that you just have to rinse, not do another cleanse. However, I've found that since the remoist has pretty much dried overnight, it helps me to rinse it out if I use 1-2 pumps of CC. Other Wenners have disagreed with me on this, but for me it really helps me to rise out the remoist if I add just a tiny bit of CC.

Re: Remoist - Quick Question!

Finny, do you cover your head with a shower cap?

I don't do overnight treatments because hubby like to play in my hair when he thinks I'm asleep{#emotions_dlg.wub} I ReMoist after cleansing and pitter around the house under a shower cap all day for 6-8 hours. My hair is still damp when I rinse it out. No need to do another cleanse.

No, I put my hair up in a bun, but sometimes it slips out while I'm sleeping. At any rate, I usually would do a remoist overnight on a weekend, and so it ends up staying in my hair for a long time before I get around to rinsing it out. I'm not talking about doing another cleanse, but it just helps me to lube things up by adding in just 1-2 pumps of CC. I don't add the CC to my scalp and actually cleanse, but just to the ponytail section which is where I concentrate the remoist.

Re: Remoist - Quick Question!

Finny, when I said that about another cleanse, that was to answer OP's question.

You take your time with ReMoist. What's the longest that you've had it in your hair? Did you see a difference from normal?

I can't really tell yet because I do something new or different every time.

When I first started Wenning my hair was a complete disaster. My oil production was insanely out of control and my face and scalp were super super oily. I didn't know then what I know now about dealing with overproduction of oil, so I was using harsh acne treatments, shampooing every single day, and I rarely used conditioner -- maybe once a month over a 3 year period. So when I started Wenning my hair was insanely dry and frizzy but also heavy and oily, if that makes sense. I'd never used heat tools or colored my hair or anything else other than just drying it out with poo.

At that point the remoist treatments were really great for me. I never left it in my hair that long intentionally, just due to weekend-related laziness / exhaustion from my grad-school lifestyle. To answer your question I'd say I often left it in for about 12 hours before I got my lazy butt back in the shower to rinse it out! I think there's a huge benefit to leaving it in overnight, as opposed to just an hour, but I don't think that the results keep getting better and better the longer you leave it in, so 12 hours probably isn't any different from 6 hours. That's just my opinion.

Anyway, after my dryness issue started getting under control (after a few months of Wenning and remoisting) I stopped remoisting as often and started concentrating more on the oils. (It also took me a while to learn about the benefits of oils and to get over that initial fear most oily people have of putting more oil on their hair and skin.) When I first started with oils I was completely saturating my ponytail section and sleeping on it overnight and then cleansing it out in the AM. I found that, for me, that helped a lot more to address my dryness/frizziness than the remoist, or at least I was seeing more visible results and much faster. For me, it was that I'd damaged my hair by causing dryness, not that I have naturally textured or frizzy hair like other people who benefit more from remoists and thus use it more regularly and often as a leave-in.

Now that I've been Wenning for about 2 years and I'm no longer drying out my hair with poo, I find that I don't need to remoist anymore and I also don't need to saturate the ends of my hair with oils. I do overnight oil treatments often -- at least once a week -- but I do them the way Chaz demos (focusing on the scalp) and then add maybe 2 droppers to my ends before putting it up in the bun for overnight. At this point I'm more interested in the benefits of the different oils and encouraging my hair to grow faster and thicker, because all the dryness and damage is cured!

Sorry for the long novel of an answer! I just started typing and the whole story came out!

Re: Remoist - Quick Question!

Maybe I should do a remoist today to see if my hair still loves it the way it used to!

Re: Remoist - Quick Question!

Finny, thank you so much! Being 3 months into Wen and still learning, I truly appreciate your start-to-now techniques and results.
